An exceptional photograph

Many people will have seen Rob Friel's marvellously poignant yet also humorous image 'Footsteps' in the daily Broadsheets this week (Times and Guardian).

To quote,  'Footsteps' by Robert Friel has been Highly Commended in the One Earth category of the Veolia Environment Wildlife Photographer of the Year'.

King penguin chick and footprints, South Georgia © Robert FrielThis was taken on an Exodus photographic charter to Antarctica last year with Paul Goldstein.  Paul says ' Rob has done a few wildlife trips with me. He has an extraordinary eye, perception and patience. It was obvious two years ago in the Mara when he spent hours perfecting a panning shot of running lion cubs that he was going to be very good indeed. I am absolutely thrilled for him over this award in the most prestigious photo competition in the world, which he fully deserves. I was with him that day and took nothing anywhere close to this. I really look forward to guiding him again this autumn in the Mara.'
