Pictures of Icelandic Eruption

Unless you have been on another planet over the last few days, you’ve probably heard that there’s been a volcano erupting in Iceland. Eyjafjallajökull’s stupendous cloud of ash is causing travel chaos for thousands of people across the world reminding us that Mother Nature is still more than capable of out-manoeuvring the human race when she puts her mind to it. While our thoughts are with all the travellers who have been caught up in this unprecedented situation as well as with the staff in airports, ferry terminals, hotels and the like who are continuing to deal with an over-whelming increase in workload, we can’t help but to be awed by the power and beauty of the eruption.

In Iceland itself, volcano enthusiasts have witnessed a spectacular display as countless tonnes of lava, ash and steam explode up into the sky. Our local operator in Iceland took these amazing pictures. Eyjafjallajökull started erupting on 21st March and so far shows no signs of abating.
