The Mett to Become the New Med

A new region nicknamed ‘the Mett’ is set to overtake the Med as the number one choice for UK holidaymakers.

Research suggests that by the end of 2011 the new holiday hotspot, incorporating Morocco, Egypt, Tunisia and Turkey, will be more popular with British travellers than the more traditional Mediterranean holiday destinations like the Algarve and the Costa del Sol.

The recent findings indicate that if current trends continue the Mett could be receiving 38% of UK holiday bookings by 2012 and completely outshining the Med, which has seen an 11.6% cumulative fall in bookings this year.

Being outside the Eurozone has certainly helped to increase demand for these fast-growing destinations and change consumers’ travel behaviour. People have become much more price conscious, and these countries represent excellent value for money whilst still being a relatively short flight time from the UK. Morocco, Egypt, Tunisia and Turkey have long been favourite choices for adventure holidays, with each offering a fascinating variety of cultures, wild natural landscapes, and activities to enjoy.

So why not enjoy a different kind of holiday this year, one the offers more than sun, sea and sand. You could summit a mountain in Morocco, visit the pyramids with a qualified Egyptologist in Egypt, go whitewater rafting in Turkey or you can even trek through the Sahara in Tunisia! Of course, only if you choose an Exodus adventure holiday in the Mett.
