Do Dalmatians come from Dalmatia?

A burning question I hear you say! Well, it is true (for the record), the spotty breed of dog was originally named after the Adriatic coastal region of Dalmatia.

And if that wasn't enough reason to jump on a plane, here's a few more highlights that I experienced on my recent visit:

Starting in the pearl of the Adriatic, Dubrovnik, a scenic boat trip will take you to the beautiful islands of Mljet, Korcula and Hvar, where a myriad of potential fun activities await - swimming in the crystal clear waters, taking a bike ride round the island or hiking through aromatic pine forests, to name but a few.

It's easy to see why Croatia and the Dalmatian coast are a popular choice for adventure holidays. The rugged coastline dotted with thousands of tiny islands is surrounded by the clearest waters of the Mediterranean making a beautiful backdrop for activities or just relaxing on the many beaches.

Luckily there seems to be a real commitment to preserving this fascinating and historic coastline and it's possible to see the population's strength of character by not giving into greedy developers.

Croatia is a stunning country and just a few hours from the UK, it's a must for anyone looking for adventure, culture and history.
