Gain on the Plains

Angry storms have dusted the already fertile plains and the migration, like guests at a party that do not know when to leave, has stalled. I don't blame them, they have water, grazing, and frequently three meals a day. Among the highlights of the last four days of Migration Safari No. 3 are three cheetah bringing down a zebra, yes, you read that right, a mother cheetah with six cubs, you read that right too and a couple of phenomonal leopard sightings. Happy clients, happy Paul, cubs are the theme with me right now although I think my four day old boy Lucas may be a little young for these cats .... just.

One thing, if the tourism minister in Kenya wants to help the Mara, he can ban 2 WD minibuses, self drives and anyone driving who is not qualified. This will improve eveyone's safari and get rid of the pond life that degrades us. Will he listen, I doubt it but it is an easy fix in a land not known for them.

Sun is going down, a leopard is lounging on a fig tree branch and there is the sonorous lament of the cisticola in the distance, doesn't get much better.
