Visit Nepal - Trekking Capital of the World

2011 is Nepal Tourism YearAs any past visitor to Nepal will tell you, for trekking it is truly incomparable: picturesque towns and villages adorned with monasteries, prayer flags and the friendliest locals are dwarfed by jaw-dropping mountains covered in forest, rock and eventually thousands of metres of glaciers and ice. Trekking below these giants and up their smaller siblings, following in the footsteps of climbing legends, is intensely rewarding and can present as much or little challenge as you choose.

First timers are almost certain to want to walk amongst the most famous peaks of the region and so should probably choose the Everest region or the Annapurnas and prayer flagsAnnapurnas as a starting point. Our grades indicate how tough a particular trek is, but experienced walkers at home shouldn’t shy away from Challenging trips like the Everest Base Camp Trek or the Annapurna Circuit. The Annapurna Sanctuary trip is a little easier giving perhaps the easiest access to the foot of an 8,000m peak.

For those wanting to take it a little easier, our Annapurna in Luxury trip is a great, gentle and beautiful introduction. Experienced trekkers wanting to test themselves are equally catered for with our 6,476m Mera Peak Expedition or High Passes of Everest. Whatever your trekking need in Nepal, we’re confident we'll be able to take care of it, just give our helpful Walking & Trekking experts a call or an email.

If you’d like to visit Nepal and get amongst the world’s highest mountains, but not trek, don’t worry we have Discovery and Cycling holidays which offer alternative ways of seeing this spectacular destination.
