Latest update from the team in Nepal

The One Team are now safely back in Kathmandu. The climb to Kala Patar was done in record time in a near blizzard but all made it to the top. We then had 3 long days trek back to Lukla. The weather was cloudy in Lukla but the plane managed to get in this morning and now off to Rum Doodles for a celebratory meal.
Comments from the One Difference team "Here's the final summit photo from the top of Kala Pata that we didn't manage to post last week. We want to extend a huge thank you to Exodus who not only stumped up our costs but also donated some £7,000. They were the perfect hosts and really looked after us. In all we raised around £20,000 for The One Foundation. Thanks to all of you who donated and provided encouragement during our challenge."

Today was ascent day for the One Big Climb team to the top of Kalapattar at 5555m. Severe weather conditions meant they had the option of bailing but the team decided to fight their way up through a blizzard. Keep it up guys!

The One Difference & Exodus' One Big Climb team have made it to Mount Everest base camp!
Paul from One Difference wrote in his text: "We made it, and reached base camp in a record time for Exodus. Just amazing, wandering among ice towers as high as 20 storey buildings. There are huge boulders the size of a 4 bedroom house just suspended on a tower of ice. The walk up this morning was tough. We got up at 6am and had a short break at Goral Shek at 9.00am."

The team arrived in Dingboche this afternoon after a spectacular sunrise view this morning over Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse and Ama Dablam - most of the team saw the mountains - Paul was busy struggling to stuff his sleeping bag into its sac!
We walked up the valley towards Everest with great views of Ama Dablam all day. Arrived safe and sound in Dingboche just after lunch. We now have two nights here for acclimatisation and tomorrow we hope to hit 5000m as we climb to the summit of Nangkartshang Peak. So far all the team are doing really well.

After a tough climb up to Thyangboche at 3800m the team re-energised themselves on chips before heading off to Thyangboche monastery to help the monks set up their solar cooker. Work finished we were all invited into the prayer ceremony for tea and prayers. The day ended in the mist with a mean card game when the One Team realised that playing cards with the Nepalis was maybe not the best idea!

Altitude is suddenly coming into play. Today is an acclimatisation day at between 12,000 and 13,000ft - an early uphill hike to gain our first view of Everest. Our conversation has thinned inline with the altitude, Mark is feeling his heart thumping out of his chest, speed has notably slowed.
