Snow Report
10th December 2010
So December has arrived, with snow, cold temperatures and Christmas spirit of course! But don’t let the chaos caused by the snow over here put you off your winter holiday. Have a look at all our wonderful destinations, where snow doesn’t mean disruptions but an “amazing playground”!
We have received lots of snowy pictures and updates from our operators this week. Here are a few:
After a few rainy days, the snow is back and the conditions are fantastic: 60cm snowdepth at the bottom of the resort and sunny days to come!
“Fantastic conditions last weekend. Chamonix tracks opened and we cross country skied with friends in Praz de Lys.” Oliver, guide in Chamonix
The last snowfall in the Queyras was about 30cm. Our operator sent us this amazing picture he took last weekend:
“We had a fantastic Saturday here, went snowshoeing as a family. I can’t resist: have a look at the photos...!” Vincent, guide in the Queyras.
Conditions could not be better in the Alte Pusteria with up to 100cm of snow on the slopes. More snow falls are expected over the weekend.
“Looks like the slow snow build up will continue… another good year!”
Karl, tour leader in the Dolomite.
With up to 60cm on the slopes, the season is starting well in the Pyrenees too. The weather is currenlty perfect in both Luchon and Ax-les-Thermes: cold and sunny!
Another great report from Poland with an average of 50cm snowdepth in our two bases. Low temperatures and more snow falls should guarantee great foundations for the whole winter.
In Zdiar, the snow cover is currently about 30cm but the weather forecasts predict more snowfalls over the weekend.
More snow in Rondablik, which already has many slopes open. Kvitåvatn has 30cm of snow and, there too, more snowfalls are expeted.
Very cold temperatures in Kuusamo at the moment (down to –20) and many cross country skiing slopes open already.
The creation of the icehotel is nearly complete for this new winter season. They are currently sculpting the inside of the rooms and all the decoration. Temperatures are around –10 degrees during the day and there should be some more snow next week.
