Camping under the starry skies at Wadi Rum The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan is rumoured to be the honeymoon destination of choice for Prince William and Kate Middleton as guests of King Abdullah II and his wife. No doubt Kate has grabbed a copy of the Lonely Planet or Footprint guide and will be looking forward to a romantic night under the stars in Wadi Rum and probably a spa treatment day at the Dead Sea.

Spring is a great time of year to visit Jordan. It is certainly the perfect time to explore Petra as the colours are so vibrant after the winter rains; Jordan possesses an embarrassing number of archaeological treasures spanning over five millennia. As you travel down the Kings Highway the imposing Crusader Castle of Kerak dominates the landscape and in many ways is Jordan’s rival t Rose City of Petra o Crac De Chavalier in Syria.

There is also the stunning site of Jerash, north of Amman, with its colonnaded streets and bath complexes. Not to be missed is the rather bizarre rendition of Scotland the Brave, on bagpipes of course, by the Jordanian soldiers in this wonderfully atmospheric amphitheatre – slightly odd but also rather magical too.

Whatever itinerary the Royal couple follow, you can be sure that most of Jordan’s highlights will be found on an Exodus trip. Although you may not find Wills and Kate freewheeling down to the Dead Sea or applying their own mud packs, with their passion for adventure travel, we like to think they’d relish the opportunity to throw off the shackles and experience Jordan Exodus style!
