Bled Castle - Slovenia

Lake Bled and the castleStanding proudly in the middle of Lake Bled, a beautiful body of glacial water in Slovenia's Julian Alps, is the magnificent Bled Castle. Now celebrating its millennial anniversary, the castle is often considered to be the symbol of Slovenia.

Dominating the spectacular landscape, Bled Castle sits on top of a steep cliff and rewards its visitors with striking vistas over the lake and the picturesque town of Bled. First mentioned on 22nd May 1011 in a deed of donation issued by Emperor Henry II, it is thought to be one of the oldest castles in present-day Slovenia and is also the country's most visited tourist attraction. Its long history and mix of architectural styles never fail to impress, especially this year when Slovenia celebrates the castle's 1000th anniversary.

Exodus offer adventure holidays to Slovenia including summer trekking and winter snowshoeing trips. On each of these trips you'll get a chance to visit Bled Castle and enjoy the breathtaking views for yourself.
