India on Four Wheels

Taj MahalIn a unique way of looking at India, BBC news presenter Justin Rowlatt and TV presenter and journalist Anita Rani take two epic but very different road trips to discover India on Four Wheels.

Starting in Delhi, India’s colourful capital, they examine how a booming car industry is helping to fuel the country’s massive economic growth, illustrating what some people think is the birth of a new super power.

Travelling in polar opposite cars, Anita in an Indian-made 4x4 Mahindra and Justin in a rusty yet iconic Hindustan Ambassador, their journeys are equally full of colour, insight, glamour and grime as they navigate bustling cities and rural backwaters en route to Chennai. The show looks closely at how this burgeoning motor industry is affecting not only India’s economy, but its people and environment too.

If you find yourself inspired to discover India and its wealth of cultural highlights, our choice of India holidays is as diverse as the country itself. Experience the splendour of Rajasthan, track down elusive tigers in a national park, sail along the holy waters of the Ganges and visit Jama Masjid, India’s largest mosque – these are just a few of the wonders that await you in India.

Catch the second instalment of BBC2’s India on Four Wheels on Friday 26th August at 9pm.  If you missed part one, you can watch it on BBC iPlayer.
