Egypt - Update

There have been demonstrations in Cairo and other Egyptian cities over the past 10 days and, from Monday 28th November, polling also started to determine Egypt's new parliament, a process which will continue over the next three months. Initial reports indicate a large, mainly peaceful, turnout.

Exodus, along with our local partners, are monitoring the situation in Egypt closely, and will take all appropriate action to ensure the safety of our clients. We will always follow British Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) advice, and we will not operate tours to areas or countries where the advice is against non-essential travel. Even though the FCO does not currently have any travel restrictions in place for Egypt, they do advise tourists stay away from crowds and demonstrations.

Groups in Egypt

We have one Nile Cruise group currently in Egypt. Some ammendments to the trip were made before travel in order to fulfill the itinerary, and all the group informed of this before they left.

Trips due to depart from the 1st December onwards

If you are due to travel after this date, please note that we are not currently proposing to review the operations of any trips more than 2 weeks before departure. Therefore those wishing to cancel or transfer to an alternative holiday should note that normal booking conditions still apply.

Our Standard Policy on Travel Security

Our overall policy towards security advice from the FCO is shown below:

• We will always follow FCO advice, and we will not operate tours to areas where the advice is against all non-essential travel. Where we cancel tours for this reason, passengers will be offered a transfer to an alternative tour or a full refund.

• Decisions about when to cancel or re-route upcoming tours are made on a rolling basis, as the advice can change at any time. Where the advice for a country is temporarily against all non-essential travel, we will not normally cancel tours more than 2 weeks before the date of travel.

• The safety of our clients is always our highest concern and we will continue to monitor the situation. Updates will be added to this web page as and when they become available.
