Exodus at Le Tour - Allez Wiggins!

Near the top of the Col de Peyresourde, 2006 Tour de France

The spa town of Bagneres de Luchon has long been an important host for the Tour de France. From Robert Millar's dramatic stage win at Luchon in 1989 to Andy Schleck's infamous 'chaingate' incident on the nearby Port de Bales in 2010, entertainment as well as controversy have never been far away here.

This year an Exodus cycling group, led by Cycling Programme Manager Andy Ross, will be there and it could be more dramatic than ever.  The town hosts a stage finish (Wednesday 18 July), a stage start the following day, as well as another mountain top finish at the nearby ski resort of Peyragudes. We will be there for both – getting behind UCI ProTour team Team Sky and British riders Bradley Wiggins, Chris Froome and Mark Cavendish!

As well as the Tour de France, the town also has close links with Exodus as we have been running our walking and mountain biking trips here for the last 20 years. So this year we couldn't resist getting involved!

This fantastic road cycling week combines mile upon mile of spectacular riding with watching the race itself three times live from the roadside. During the week there will be the opportunity to climb all of the famous local cols, as well as to ride stage 17 of the 2012 Tour de France, a challenging 144km route from Luchon to Peyragudes with over 4000m of climbing.

If you would like to join one of our cycling trips then why not request a Cycling Adventures brochure - you could be the next Bradley Wiggins!
