Get Involved with Responsible Travel
We do make a difference - many companies claim to be responsible but at Exodus we believe in action. We have many successful projects around the world which help house the homeless, educate the poor, protect the environment and wildlife, and help reduce carbon emissions. All are designed to ensure that tourism has a positive impact.
On an Exodus School Adventure there are three simple guiding principles for the way in which we want to travel:
1. We should ensure that communities benefit from our visit
2. We realise that every destination is someone else’s home
3. We should leave places as we would like to find them
What do we do?
For many years now we have actively looked for specific responsible tourism projects where, as a tour operator, we are in an ideal position to help. These range from helping schools or orphanages, to rebuilding communities after disasters or helping reduce carbon emissions by installing solar cookers.
We recognise the value of incorporating community interaction within a School Adventure and are able to include visits and hands-on volunteering within itineraries. Speak to us and we'll work with you to suggest the most suitable project so that both your students and the recipient community benefit from the experience.
Himalayan Community Support
Exodus have been organising tours and treks in the Himalaya for over 35 years and so it is only natural that we would want to give something back. We have built an orphanage in Kathmandu, established tree nurseries, provided solar cookers on the Everest trail and sustainable water solutions in Ladakh.

Morocco Tijhza Village Project
Tijhza is a small community tucked away in the middle of the High Atlas Mountains. Our project helps the local school, the village and the wider community thanks to continuous donations and ‘hands on’ volunteering from visiting Exodus clients.

Zambia Volunteer Trips
Exodus provides support for the people of the Chikumbi region and community school based in Kasulu. Client volunteers and donations have enabled us to provide malaria nets, AIDS training, eye care out-reach programme, the provision of clean bore-holes and support for educational and sports camps run for disadvantaged children in the area.
