On Foot in Morocco
Only a short flight from the UK, Morocco rivals anywhere in the world for its variety of landscapes and scenic beauty. In addition, the
country has a mystical air, its geographical proximity belying its exotic charm. From the rolling dunes of the Sahara Desert, the
sparsely vegetated slopes of the Atlas Mountains to the lush oasis of the Anti-Atlas, the land cries out to be explored on foot, year-round.

On Top of the Tyrol
Our partnership with Waymark Holidays has allowed us to broaden our range of walking and trekking trips into some new areas including the beautiful Tyrol Mountains. Not only does this area provide some most enjoyable walks in stunning scenery, but also all the delights of traditional Austrian villages. The terrain lends itself to both moderate walks, well within the capabilities of the weekend walker, with some more challenging options for those with a desire to further stretch their legs. Our two trips to this region are both centre-based which means that you can return each evening to some well-earned creature comforts; you can opt out of any walks if you prefer to spend a day relaxing...

Have you Tried Via Ferrata?
To enable them to navigate the more inaccessible reaches of the Italian Dolomites and Austrian Tyrol, troops in the First World War attached iron cables, ladders and staples to the rock. Many of these ‘Via Ferrata’ routes remain today and have been extended to create an exciting way to traverse the mountains and to reach places previously only accessible by technical mountain climbers. Under the guidance of a skilled, highly professional mountain guide, you can negotiate your way through some of the steepest and most impressive limestone cliffs and towers to enjoy the views from the top. This activity is not for the faint-hearted; you will need to be in good physical condition and have a head for heights. No previous experience is necessary and all safety equipment is provided. We have three Via Ferrata trips to choose from, all graded ‘D’ – tough. Our ‘Dolomites Trek’ (TWJ) includes occasional sections of Via Ferrata – the perfect way to get a taster of this popular activity. If you read the walking magazines, you will know that Via Ferrata is the thing to do right now!

The Magnificent Inca Trail
It’s easy to see why the Inca Trail has long been top of the list of favourite trekking routes. It winds its way through a variety of dramatic landscapes, past old Inca ruins and on to the grand finale – the magnificent and extensive ruins of Machu Picchu.
There is an undeniable mystical element to the trek; every step you take mirrors that of countless Incas who followed the trail on pilgrimage. And of course Peru has much, much more to offer than just the Inca Trail (although it is reason enough to visit). Who can resist the draw of the azure waters of the legendary Lake Titicaca or the chance to see the Inca ruins of Ollantaytambo or Sacsayhuaman? As with all popular things, you do have to book early to avoid disappointment (and in the case of the Inca Trail, secure one of the limited numbers of trekking permits issued for each day). There are still permits available for 2008 departures but you really do need to book soon to guarantee your place on the trek of a lifetime.
