Anyone out there doing the above trip?

When I booked I was traveller number 4.  Like everyone else I'm really looking forward to the trip even though it's over 4 months away.

It's the first time that I've travelled solo within such a group but I've travelled with my husband with Exodus before and everyone got on really well.  We've all signed up for similar reasons and already have something in common.

Not sure whether to take a sleeping bag - just thinking of the Drakensburg mountains at night. Any advice anyone?

This is my first time with exodus, I have booked with a friend of mine called Jenny who has travelled with the company before.  I am taking a sleeping bag plus a liner so when on hot nights I can just sleep in the liner and use sleeping bag as extra padding/matress.

When we booked we were told that there was a solo traveller ( which I take is you) and a couple.

Hopefully more people have booked since then.

I personally cant wait.  My father lived in South Africa for a short while and he always said it was very beautiful. Thats the main reason I have booked, to see what my father saw all those years ago.

I am also thing of ddoing volunteer work in Africa and hopefully this experience will help me with their culture etc

Bye for now

Pauline.

Hi Pauline

Thanks for your post.

Yes, it appears I'm the solo traveller that was mentioned.  Like you, I hope some more people have booked.

I'm off to Cape Town in just over 2 weeks time - I have a safari booked with a rival company from CT to Vic Falls which I'm really looking forward to.  My main luggage for that trip is restricted to 12kg!  Now that's a challenge but a good one.  I've trimmed my packing to the very basics.  I've decided not to take a sleeping bag (weight and bulk problems) but I will be taking a thermal liner, a silk liner and will just have to wear clothes in 'bed' if necessary.  An interesting experiment!

I've managed to get my visa for Mozambique on Exodus' advice.  As I live in France that meant a 5 hour train journey up to Paris.  I went up with a friend and we stayed overnight and did a spot of sightseeing along the way.  It's a hard life!

Looking foward to meeting you and hearing about your proposed voluntary work in SA.
