Capturing the views from Maglic, Bosnia

Maglic Mountain

Maglic Mountain Trips

Located as it is in the Sutjeska National Park, which also contains one of Europe's last primeval forests, a journey to Maglic Mountain is simply glorious. This part of the world recieves few visitors, making it a perfect retreat for hikers and mountaineers, and the natural triangle of Zelengora, Volujak and Maglic Mountain is both challenging and captivating.

At 2386m, Maglic Mountain is the highest peak in Bosnia & Herzegovina and features gentle pine-forest walking, dramatic rock faces, arduous climbs over rocky sections and scrambling. The view from the ridge and peak is stupendous, across the dramatic landscape of the Bosnia & Herzegovina–Montenegro border. The forest here hides a world of wonder, with trickling streams, huge trees – some older than 400 years – and rich flora and fauna. Keep an eye out for animal footprints. Europe's elusive brown bear might be watching...
