Less visited than Nepal, though often as breathtaking, India offers enormous variety for trekkers – not just in its tremendous wealth of mountain landscapes, but also as a melting pot of cultural diversity.

The Indian Himalaya
For many, the Himalaya are synonymous with Nepal, but vast tracts of this magnificent range form the northern borders of India. From remote and unspoilt Ladakh in the northwest through to Darjeeling and Sikkim in the east, these beautiful mountains offer a diversity of scenery and culture unmatched anywhere. For big white peaks there are Kanchenjunga and Nanda Devi; for the peak baggers, there’s the 6153m Stok Kangri.

Southern India
Trekking through verdant tea plantations and rhododendron forests, southern India has as much to offer as the north. Low-altitude trekking coupled with cruising the Keralan backwaters on a coir houseboat makes for a more relaxed approach than the Indian Himalaya.
