Cycling Vietnam

Hi

Anybody else doing this? I'm doing the MOC departure on 16/17 April first, then staying with a friend in HCMC, before picking up this MOV trip leaving HCMC on 1st/2nd May.  Would be good to hear from anybody else doing either/both these trips.

Anyone?  Six weeks to go...!

KMuir

I am doing this trip, flying down from Edinburgh on Friday 29 April and staying overnight at Heathrow. This is my first cycling trip, and first time with Exodus. I have completed a number of trekking holidays overseas. Really looking forward to the whole experience.

Good to hear from you.  My first cycling trip too, but I've done other trips with Exodus and enjoyed them all.  At the moment I think I'll be meeting up with you all at the hotel in HCMC on Sunday evening.

See you then!

Greg

KMuir

Look forward to it.

 Karen

I will be there in Vietnam, coming in from Singapore where my brother lives. I have done a couple of cycling trips with Exodus, the Tuscany & Picos ones, both excellent.

Look forward to seeing you there!

Hi Alex

Good to know I won't be the only one tagging onto the group at the hotel!  Are you arriving on the Sunday?

Bit tired after a bike ride today - also caught the sun a bit.  But managed a decent distance on an old Raleigh Activator with a buckled rear wheel :)

Pretty confident that the bikes we hire will be in better nick!

Greg

Hi Greg, so yes I'm arriving on the Sunday at 10:55 so was planning to get a cab to the hotel. However happy to meet up if you are arriving around the same time.

I am off out on the bike today, nice and sunny now, after a busy work week and no exercise at all.

The hire bikes looked ok from the description so that should be fine. I'm trying to decide whether to bring spd shoes or whether that is a bit overkill for this trip. what do you think?

Hi All
Great to hear from you and about your plans, we will also be joining the group in the hotel as we will be doing the Angkor Wat extension beforehand.
I have never been on a cycling holiday before, but Chris has with other companies..so we are both very excited.
I am not bringing my spds but Chris is. I am not a very experienced cyclist so I hope I will be ok! I have been training a little but I think I have left it a bit late...

Hope your ride went well today Alex.

Hope you all enjoy your first part of the adventure and look forward to meeting you at the hotel. Have just been for a 20 mile cycle today, a bit sunburnt but I am not complaining. Karen

I'll be also joining the group but leaving from Heathrow on Saturday. First trip with Exodus and first cycling trip as well. All the reviews seem great so really looking forward to it. I still need to do more training to get ready but I'm sure that will be fun.

See you all soon.

Have fun.

Hi All, i'm also flying from Heathrow on Saturday.

Anshu & Chris enjoy Angkor Wat. I was there a few years ago doing a cycling trip from Laos to Cambodia, it is stunning. Get there early so you can avoid the crowds.

If you are looking for somewhere to eat in the evening the "Dead fish Tower" is fun especially with the crocodiles! Make sure you pay your bill!

See you all soon.

Good to hear from you all

I'm in Phnom Penh at the moment, having done Angkor a couple of days ago on the MOC trip; Anshu and Chris I'm sure you will enjoy it.  Not sure what spd shoes are but most of this group seem to have coped perfectly well with ordinary trainers.  Alex, I'll already be in Saigon on the Sunday.  From your arrival time, I suspect you'll get to meet up with the group before me.  My understanding is that there will be some kind of meeting/briefing around 7pm and I'll meet you all then.

Regards

Greg

Anshu

Hi all,
Thanks Greg and Alex for your replies...but you won't believe this Chris and I have had to cancel the trip...I was cycling along the river Thames on Friday and fell 8ft down on to the river bed and have broken my collar bone!!! We are both absolutely devastated and just can't believe it. At the same time glad that I didn't have worse injuries.
We hope to visit Cambodia and Vietnam one day, but this obviously wasn't meant to be!
Have a wondeful time, and maybe we will meet on another trip in the future.
Anshu :(

What bad luck, Anshu. So sorry to hear you won't be joining us. Hope you mend quickly so you guys can get away on another holiday sometime soon.
