Hiring gear locally

I will be joining TYC - Safari, Kilimanjaro climb and Zanzibar in February next year. I am considering hiring sleeping bag/mat and warm jacket/trousers locally for two main reasons: -

1. To save the cost of buying these items

2. To save the bulk/weight when travelling from and to London

Does anyone have any experience of doing this? Have you arrived to find they haven't reserved your items, or don't have the right size? How was this resolved? Or was it a hassle-free experience? Was it through the Exodus agent?

Sleeping bags, down jackets in various sizes and mattresses can be hired locally from us, we do not rent out trousers. We have a limited number of everything all hired out on a first come first served basis. I would 100% recommend hiring one of our mattresses as they are thick (approx 30cm) foam mattresses that are a lot more comfortable than a thermarest. dids hi spike i did kilimanjaro in feb this year ,,,i wore my event {rab} jacket with lots of layers ,,although i did buy a berghaus puffa jacket from cotswolds store 4 £60 ,,,but never needed it! sleeping bag i took my own and my friend hired one,,sadly she was warmer than i was ,,defo agree with the matress! the thicker the better! good luck with the trek,,enjoy it all and remember to listen to your guide! hope this was helpfull,,,anything else just ask ..
