Looking forward to a new adventure

I am looking forward to meeting all of those on this trip.  I am coming with a friend and we are both looking forward to discovering more about this country.  Also very pleased that the visa also seems cheaper and easier to obtain as from a couple of weeks ago.  If anyone has already obtained one please let me know how easy it was.

Hi Rosemary, Just seen your post. No problem getting a visa; I used Travcour, they pointed out that I had missed a bit off the form which, had I gone to the embassy direct could have resulted in it being rejected with having to re-submit and double the cost. May see you at Heathrow.

Hi Graham & Rosemary

Are you booked on the tour departing on 7/9/18? I spent a frustrating day yesterday trying to apply for the new e-visa and my application kept on getting rejected because the passport photo did not meet their criteria although I had been assured that it did! Today I tried the postal method but I had problems with that method also so I phoned Travcour and sent them my details together with my passport photo, which they said did need to be reformatted and paid £50. If this works, it is still a cheaper method than posting the forms and I don't have to send my passport away. So another vote for Travcour

I applied on Monday for my e-visa and received it this morning.  It was on the whole fairly easy, except that you have to get your photo the exact size, i.e. 3.5 x 4.5 cm.  You also need to be able to get the copies of your photo and passport in a jpeg, (or one or two other formats listed) but not pdf.  I managed eventually on my scanner, but those of you who are more used to photo programmes may find an easier way of getting the right size.  The good thing is that it was very quick and only cost $20 and you don't have to send off your passport.  Look forward to seeing you on the trip.

Hi Rosemary

I am pleased to hear that you managed to get your visa by the cheapest method. Looking forward also to meeting up with you and our fellow travellers shortly.

Hello!

I'm looking forward to this trip and meeting everyone who is going on the same trip. I got my visa from Travcour and it saved a lot of hassle. Does anyone have any tips on what to take?

Not sure about the weather so will take layers to be on the safe, although just before we go I will check out the weather forecast.  I will also be taking a few snacks as I heard that the food isn't great and can be very fatty.

Not long to go now! I am a bit concerned about the local currency. Apparently we will get something like a brick in Soms for only changing about 50 US $ so we may need  a suitcase for 200 US $!!! I was planning to change money when we arrive at Tashkent airport. What money changing plans do you have?

Hi, I'm also joining this trip. Look forward to meeting you either at Heathrow or the other end (I'll have an Exodus tag on my hand luggage so you may spot me). I've just been looking at reviews for Uzbek Airways... it sounds like the plane trip alone will be an adventure! For cash, I;m going to take a few hundred USD and change either at the airport or hotel - i think most of the "western" hotels in Tashkent have FX facilities and can even take card payments / have ATMs.

Hi Nabeel and Howard,

Yes, changing money at the airport sounds like a plan. The guide who is meeting us will be able to tell us if it is a good rate or not, and where is better in Tashkent. I did read somewhere that everyone likes dollars, so it may not be necessary to change much money.

Not long to go and lots to do! Looking forward to meeting you.
