Five Reasons You’ll Love Tuscany

Before we get started, we want to introduce you to the newest member of the Exodus Product team: Paolo Bonato!

An Italian himself, Paolo is an expert on Italy, and one of his favourite Italian regions is the stunning Tuscany. We asked him why he was such a big fan of the area, and this is what he told us...

1. The Culture

Sunset over Florence Sunset over Florence

I love Tuscany because it combines beautiful countryside with a rich tapestry of culture. It is the home of spectacular art, fascinating history and, of course, the best food and wine.

2. The Food

Tuscany is a gastronomic delight. From Bistecca alla Fiorentina (classic Tuscan steak) to Lardo di Colonnata (cured meat served as starter), your tastebuds are in for a treat. In winter try the Ribollita, a hearty, warming soup.

3. The Countryside

Greve, Chianti Greve, Chianti

The Tuscan countryside is a paradise of rolling hills (often topped by sandstone-coloured farmhouses), patchwork fields, colourful vineyards and verdant forests. You'll find yourself lost in its beauty.

4. The Accommodation

The Braccicorti property we use on our trips is a real gem, hidden away in the Garfagnana area of northern Tuscany. The Giovanetti family are warm, welcoming hosts, and their cooking is simply wonderful.

5. The Wine

There are four great wines in Tuscany that are my absolute favorites: Chianti Classico, Brunello di Montalcino and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano are the best reds, and Vernaccia di San Gimignano is my my pick for a white!
