International Womens Day

International Women’s Day 2018

Celebrating International Women’s Day

Thursday 8th March marks International Women’s Day. Gender inclusivity has never been more important and as 2018 commemorates a century since some women won the right to vote in Great Britain, this year’s International Women’s Day holds even greater significance… and we’ve got a lot to shout about.

Whether it’s supporting women in the communities we travel to, or inspiring women to take on their first female group adventure, we want to reach women on a global scale. This International Women’s Day we’re celebrating all of our female-focused achievements. Cue our very own ‘Woman with Altitude’ Elise Wortley…

With the hope of inspiring other women to take on their own adventure, last November Exodus staff member, Elise embarked on an epic adventure through the Himalaya following in the footsteps of her idol, Alexandra David Neel. Raising money for charity Freedom Kit Bags, that provide reusable sanitary products for women in remote and low-income areas of Nepal, she trekked through Sikkim, Northern India, towards the Tibetan border with ZERO modern day equipment… Find out what happened in her very special film below, or read her interview here.

Women with Altitude - Following in the steps of Alexandra David-Neel

In addition to supporting Freedom Kit Bags, and helped by the generosity of our clients, Exodus fund a number of women’s Responsible Tourism initiatives. From assisting female farmers in Tanzania with harvesting their own crops, to setting up Eco Cafés run by local women in Ladakh, to working with a charity in Kenya pushing to end FGM in a remote Maasai community, we’re passionate about ensuring tourism has a positive impact on women’s lives across the globe.

At Exodus we’re committed to empowering women through travel, we hope you’ll join us in celebrating this International Women’s Day.

If after watching Elise’s all female adventure in India, you’re feeling inspired to share in your own female group adventure, check out our special female departures below.
