    CLASSIC RAJASTHAN

More than a holiday, this was a journey of discovery for me. I had previously visited Kerala (the Tropical South tour). This trip was very different but was every bit as inspirational and the experience will stay with me for a very long time.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

I could say seeing the Taj Mahal at dawn and this was a highlight but seeing children learning in a rural village school, women collecting water chestnuts at sunset in a secluded lake and nearby a little spotted owl and an Indian Robin were also very special.

What did you think of your group leader?

Balvinder made the difference that lifted this trip to the experience it became. As well as being an excellent guide he daily worked hard to add extra elements. He found the secluded lake and was the first to see the spotted owl. It was his aim to add something extra to the planned trip every day. He sought out great places to eat that were also good value and alwyas made sure that we were all well served. He achieved an introduction to a wedding celebration that  included meeting the father of the bride and the bride herself. He regailed us with lots of stories about the way of life in India and how it is changing. He gave of himself, sharing a lot of personal information that gave insight into the Sikh way of life in Delhi. He desrvesto win the leader of the year award.

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

The trip notes were accurate but do be prepared for a full itinerary that can be tiring at times - early starts and some lengthy journeys. It was fairly hot during the day but was cool in the early morning and after sunset. Take layered clothing for all eventualities.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

This is a wonderful trip staying in some beautiful heritage hotels. An excellent balance of cities, forts and palaces but also countryside, wildife and restful places. If you have any doubts that this is the trip for you don't have. Go for it.
