Reviewed June 2016 Julian Gale Coastal Trails of Catalunya Beautiful scenery with coastal walks providing many stunning views of the ocean. Lots of other features of interest, such as walks through forests etc. and the trek to the lighthouse. As noted by my fellow travellers, Begur is a lovely town to be based. It has the added bonus of plenty of good restaurants for dinner for the duration of your time there. Food throughout was excellent and the Hotel Rosa produces one of the best breakfast buffets I have ever encountered. What was the most inspirational moment of your trip? The walks to Pals and the lighthouse. Cadaques and visiting Salvador Dali's house. Free day in Girona, which is well worth the visit. What did you think of your group leader? Aitor was excellent. Very good at adapting to the needs of the group, good humoured and sociable. In addition, a high level of local knowledge so suitably informative. Do you have any advice for potential travellers? Visit Girona on the free day. As indicated in the trip notes, although there are obviously ATM machines in Begur, it is worth taking enough euros to also cover lunches out (which are too good to miss and much more appealing than sandwiches!). Is there anything else you would like to add? It was good to also have time to see Barcelona on the Friday and for most of the Saturday before returning to UK. The trip as a whole provides a good combination of walking and cultural aspects, such as the visits to Salvador Dali's house and the cities (Girona and Barcelona).
Reviewed June 2016 Jane Graham Coastal Trails of Catalunya An enjoyable mix of country walking and city sightseeing. Begur is a delightful medieval town from which to explore the Catalonian hills. The Hotel Rosa is comfortable, well positioned with superb breakfasts. What was the most inspirational moment of your trip? The walks to Palls and Cap de Creus. Visting Dali's house in Cadaques. What did you think of your group leader? Aitor was an exceptional leader. Extremely capable, good humoured and went out of his way to help. Do you have any advice for potential travellers? There are 4 days of walking and 2/3 days of sightseeing. I was happy with the mix but this trip may not suit those looking for a more active week. Is there anything else you would like to add? I would recommend visiting nearby Girona on the day off.
