Advice on kit

Hello -we are taking this trip in July 2018, does anyone have advice on kit to take?  In particular it would be helpful to hear from anyone who hired sleeping bags in Peru.

Many thanks

Sarah

Hi Sarah! Are you doing the High Inca Trail departing July 7?

Hi Marissa - no we are doing the Inca Trail & Amazon departing 20 July.  Hope you enjoy your trip!

I'm Jules, I don't have any advice but am going on the 20th July too, can't wait! We are going to hire sleeping bags there as didn't want to waste space in the main bag.  You doing the same?

Hi there we are leaving hesthrowvon the 18th so looks like we will be on the same trip as well. I’m a little worried about my pack the porter will carry as 6kg isn’t much.

Definitely isn't going to take much to reach that weight. I'm guessing it will be mainly lots of light weight layers and a spare pair of trousers! Really excited for this though; never been to South America before. We flight out on the 20th at 10:40pm.

We are definitely going to hire sleeping bags.  Finding it hard to decide on what to pack clothes wise.  I can’t quite get my head around cold nights, not with the weather we are enjoying in the UK at the moment!  also wondering how hard the trek to Machu Picchu will be and how we will cope with the altitude..... there is a fantastic video on YouTube by a chap who has done the Exodus trek it is by Mr Unfit - it is well worth a look, if only to see what the tents are like!  This time in two weeks we’ll be there - can’t wait!

Just been having a look at the video you recommended, gives a good insight as to what to expect. Definitely think earplugs might be needed! 😊 tents were close together 😂😂 can’t believe it’s less than 2 weeks away ☺️ Soooo excited 😆 This weather is definitely making packing tricky, think I’m going to be packing and repacking about 20 times! you on the evening flight from Heathrow? See you Friday if you are x

We are on the flight from Gatwick which departs on the Friday morning so we will see you at the hotel.  We have been in touch to find out the demographic of the group as we don’t want to slow everyone down on the trek!  It sounds like a good cross section age wise.  Earplugs definitely a must - who knows what it will be like in the homestay on Lake Titicaca!  Look forward to meeting up in person. 😀

I started watching Mr unfit but stopped as I don't want to spoil it. Do I don't I?

You travelling on the direct to flight? We on the change in Columbia option as I have work on Friday. I don’t think it matters about anyone holding anyone up, seems you walk at a pace that suits you. At least I hope so cause my ‘training’ Plan has been rubbish ☺️ We have a couple of friends and family members on this trip too and they will be on your flight; so look out for people in walking shoes 😂😂 looking forward to meeting you. See you in Peru 🇵🇪 😊

Hi All We too are flying out on Friday 20th direct flight from Gatwick - Sarah same as you? There are 4 of us travelling together. Look forward to meeting you all

Hello Rachel - yes it sounds like we are on the same flight, I am travelling with my husband - we will look out for people in walking boots (I don't think I can fit mine in my bag)!

Looking forward to meeting everyone for this adventure!

Soooo excited for Friday :-) Happy travels everyone and look forward to meeting you all.

xx

Me and my other half are leaving on 22.30(ish) flight from Heathrow on Friday. Can't believe it's come round so quick. I guess I'd better pack soon.
