Hi Dora, Paul & Rachel here; nice to 'see' you again.  Fourth trip inside a year with PG - he must be doing something right ;)

Hi Paul & Rachel, where you on Antarctic Trip last year? He certainly must be doing something right - my 2nd:)

Yes we were (and the original 2015 Shackleton trip). Very different trips but fantastic both times. What was your other PG trip?

This time last year I was with him on a Masi Mara Photographic Safari.  What an experience that was!!

I'm so excited to be going on this trip! It's my first time doing this sort of thing. Any advice for a newbie solo traveller?

Advice!!  Come prepared for cold weather - can be cold/windy when zodiac cruising, dress in layers.  Days at sea can be long so take book/iPad loaded with programs, gym kit if that's your thing.

Camera with long lens + wide angle lens, plenty of memory cards, tripod. Seasick tabs.

There's a laundry service onboard the ship.

Are you on the evening LHR to Buenos Aires BA flight?

Knee pads are useful for zodiac cruising - the metal floor of the zodiac can be hard on the bones if you have to kneel for very long.

On previous trips [on the Vavilov] soap, shampoo and bath robes were provided, presume the Resolute will be the same, so a few less things to have to pack. Likewise a waterproof 'dry bag' was provided to pack your camera gear into for the zodiac trips ashore.

You will have already filled in the forms for wet weather gear and wellies but don't worry if your weren't sure of the exact sizes - you'll be able to swap sizes on board. People used to take clothes pegs to keep track of their wellies but on the Resolute i think you get your own space to store them.

Thanks for the advice guys!

I've been testing my thermals when out with my camera this weeked, and I've stocked up on sea-sickness tablets (not looking forward to that part...). I wasn't going to bother taking a tripod because I usually just hand hold. But I think I'll take my laptop to back up photos.

Yep, I'm on that flight, flying from Glasgow late afternoon. I think there might be a few of us on the LHR flight so hopefully I'll get to meet some of you.

Thanks for the re-assurance about the wet weather gear sizes - I really wasn't sure when I ordered and I think I might have got it horribly wrong! But I'm sure the penguins won't mind if I look like a bit of an idiot! :-)

It's reassuring to hear you've both been on this type of trip before - it must be good!
