Everest Base Camp Trek - 15th Jan

Hi There,

Just booked myself on the Everest Base Camp Trek leaving 15th Jan. Anyone else booked on this trip?

Thanks,
Alan

Looking forward to getting there now!

Looking forward to getting there now!

Hi there,
not long to go now! Is anybody else on the flight from Heathrow?

Hi Jon, yep I will be flying from Heathrow. See you in departures...

Yup, I'm going from Heathrow on Friday 15th. We'll do some Exodus baggage label spotting in departures?
Checking the weather now and it looks good to me.
Last information I had was 1 couple, 1 girl and 12 men.

Hi all,

I am booked onto this trip - I am really excited (albeit a little nervous!) and will be travelling from Heathrow on Friday. Shall we suggest a meet up once we are through departures in a coffee shop? H

That must make me the one girl then, and I am also flying from Heathrow on Friday

Rachel you have female company :) I can't wait to meet you and share this incredible experience x

Hi, how about Pret A Manger? I'll be the old guy looking nervous. There also seems to be an Apostrophe cafe but I don't know what it's like.
Graham

Hi Graham, yes, Pret sounds good. I'll probably be in a blue fleece, walking trousers and hiking boots! I am aiming to arrive at Heathrow for 17.00 so will hope to be through to departures for 17.45 - 18.00. Can't wait to meet everyone :)

Fab! I'll be about half an hour after you, traffic dependent. Gray fleece, and maybe green waterproof, with canvas 'fishermans' bag. Walking boots.
Hope all of us can all meet up there.
Graham

Great - see you there, Graham! Hayley.

Is anyone taking a stove with them? I know the food sounds pretty varied from tea house to tea house....

Hi all, coffee at pret sounds good, hope to meet you all there. I'll probably have a blue hoodie on and be carrying a dark orange ruck sack. Looking forward to meeting you all,
Jon

Hi, See you all in Pret on Friday!! Getting a bit excited now - better start packing... Alan

Excellent, looking forward to meeting everybody.
Hayley, I'm not taking a stove. I'm already struggling with the weight limits, and I like dal bhat;-) I'll be betting to Heathrow about 6:30 btw.
Graham

Thanks Graham, the stove has been removed as has my thermarest :( !!! I think we are able to get boiling water in most tea houses anyhow. I am struggling with the weight limits too and in addition, doing this for a charity (bringing out stuff for the local people) and as such I will be travelling with minimal kit....! I hope to buy the 'crampons' in country before we leave for Lukla. Safe travels to the airport guys - I look forward to seeing you all tomorrow. Hayley :)

Just out of interest how much money are any of you thinking of taking?
Jon

I'm taking £650
Lunch/Dinner/drinks 16 days @ £35, £560
Tips £55
Sightseeing £25
Showers £10
They say for lunch/dinner allow £25 to £35 per day so I'm taking the upper amount.
I have my visa so will not be spending on that (£35 I think at the airport).
Hope this helps.
I also leaving an potential crampon purchase till we are in the country.
See you at Pret!
Graham

Hi, I was thinking £550 BUT I might increase having seen Graham's notes above - I have to also get my visa on arrival. I'd rather have too much and have to change it back to sterling on our return from the trek I guess! I'll be coming crampon shopping!

Hi all,

I'll hopefully see you all in Pret, aiming to be there 6-6.30 and I should be in my purple down jacket. Now just onto the small matter of packing!

See you tomorrow,
Rachel

Thanks Graham, that sounds like a sensible amount to take, time to get that packing finished!
See you all later on!
Jon
