1 out of 7 - Easy
Spend a long weekend in Norfolk, refining your skills with a camera under the expert tutelage of renowned photographer Paul Goldstein. You’ll stay on a private farm with five-star facilities, which has been in the family of Paul’s cousin for almost a century. We’ve organised these photo workshops to coincide with spring tides at RSPB Snettisham, when more than 100,000 birds produce an acrobatic aerial display appropriately called a spectacular.
The whole coastline, and indeed North Norfolk, is wonderfully photogenic and although this may not be the Masai Mara Conservancies or the Poles – where Paul leads some of our other photographic trips – it is an extremely enjoyable few days in good company and a fantastic venue.
This photographic workshop has been covered by the Sunday Times, the Independent and BBC Wildlife films.
Highlights
This trip is rated Activity Level 1 (Easy). For more information on our trip gradings please visit the Activity Level Guidelines page.
There will be two early starts and some long days. This trip is not considered to be physically demanding but reasonable fitness levels are required. It is a good healthy walk to the birds in Snettisham. This bird spectacular is among the finest avian sights in Europe and less than an hour from the farm. There are also opportunities for some coastal photography, plus other scenic moments in and around the farm. Paul knows this area almost as well as the Masai Mara and will be doing his best to maximise your time in this beautiful part of East Anglia.

Carrick’s at Castle Farm is an award-winning guesthouse on the River Wensum, in an unspoiled area of the mid-Wensum Valley. It’s the family home of the Carricks, who have been there for almost a century, plus it’s a working farm with a small herd of Lincoln red pedigree cattle, commercial stock and a couple of dogs.
The house itself has a sitting room, a great place to gather with the group, and a 12-seater dining room with a dangling chandelier above the table. The rooms are individually designed with a traditional style and plenty of character.
