Land Only Itinerary

  • Day 1

Hello Sailor – you’re bound for the Methana Peninsula

Welcome to Greece. You’ll be met at the airport and take the 30-minute journey to the Alimos Marina. Here, you’ll meet your group, crew and skipper for a briefing aboard a sailing yacht and your home at sea for the next week.

At around 4 pm, it’s anchors aweigh as you set sail for Methana, crossing the Saronic Gulf. By 8 pm, you’ll be anchored at its volcanic peninsula, and join your group for an optional welcome dinner at a seafront restaurant.

  • Day 2

    Set sail to Poros

After breakfast on board, you’ll have the chance to stretch your legs on a four-hour hike up Methana Volcano. The trail rises through pine forest, eventually leading to the precipice of the volcano’s crater.

Later you’ll set sail to Poros, less than an hour away. Separated from the Peloponnese by a narrow sea channel, this romantic harbour town is lined with pastel-coloured houses overlooked by the Clock Tower.

You’ll spend the afternoon anchored in the bay, having lunch on board and swimming and diving from the deck. There’s the option for water skiing and other watersports on Poros Island too.

Tonight, you’ll venture into town for dinner at one of Poros’ seafront restaurants.

    Meals included:
  • Day 3

Navigate south for e-biking on Spetses

After not-your-average-Monday breakfast, you’ll sail to Spetses, around four hours away and the most southerly of all the Saronic Islands. The town, enclosed by undulating hills and scented pine forests, is a lively spot steeped in naval history.

There’s time for lunch before picking up e-bikes for an island tour, visiting the shimmering coves and immaculate beaches. The four-hour ride around the island will fly by, and before you know it, you’ll be back in the town.

    Meals included:
  • Day 4

    Eastward to Hydra for hiking

This morning you’ll sail to sun-soaked Hydra, a highlight of the Saronic islands thanks to its horseshoe port, cobbled lanes, clear waters and sublime architecture. There are no cars, scooters or even bikes on Hydra, giving it a quixotic feel.

With no wheels to transport you, you’ll motor under your own power, hiking for a few hours to the top of Eros Peak. Your efforts will be rewarded with spectacular views across the sea and a refreshing swim at Vlichos Beach.

Instead of hiking, you can opt to scuba dive off Hydra Island, at your own cost.

Tonight is yours to explore the town.

    Meals included:
  • Day 5

    Depart for Aegina

Parting with gorgeous Hydra is never easy, but today you’re bound for Aegina Island, stopping at the uninhabited Moni en route. Here you’ll swim and snorkel and have a spot of lunch before continuing to Perdica, a fishing town on Aegina.

Here there’s an optional visit to the Temple of Aphaea. It’s an ancient archaeological site that forms an equilateral triangle with the Acropolis and the Temple of Poseidon in Sounio. Otherwise, you can spend some time in the port, admiring neoclassical buildings and floating markets and sampling the local pistachios from the harbour-front kiosks.

    Meals included:
  • Day 6

Taste olive oil on the Argolis peninsula

Today you’ll set sail from Perdica bound for the aquamarine shores of Old Epidaurus on the Argolis peninsula. You’ll visit the ancient Epidaurus archaeological site, home of the god of medicine, Asclepius. There’s a well-preserved amphitheatre (with impressive acoustics) to admire before you visit an olive oil farm to learn about the oil-making process and taste the produce.

Later, you’ll return to the port for a seaside walk towards the Sunken City.

    Meals included:
  • Day 7

Swim and snorkel around Agkistri Island

After breakfast on board, you’ll head inland to Agkistri Island. Today the choice is yours – you can spend time kayaking around the island or spend your last full day swimming and snorkelling from the boat. Or maybe just soaking up the warmth of the sun on the deck, in a blissfully relaxing way to finish your week.

    Meals included:
  • Day 8

From the water to the sky

By 9 am, you’ll disembark. Sunkissed and satiated, you’ll transfer to the airport.

    Meals included:

The group will sail in a flotilla of two yachts. On each yacht, there are cabins, with double beds or bunk beds. There is one single room available on each boat with a supplement. There are shared toilets onboard, an outside deck, living room and kitchen.

Where a solo room is available, paying for a solo room only guarantees a room for single use. It does not always mean a twin or double room will be provided for solo occupancy.

Please note that a member of the group may be allocated a solo room by default if the make-up of the group means there isn’t anyone for them to share with. Paying the supplement in advance is the only way to guarantee a solo room.

Solo supplements cannot be refunded retrospectively.

  • Toiletries (no complimentary shower gel and shampoo is provided on-board)

Plastic bottles are a big issue in many countries where recycling isn’t yet widely available; they often end up in landfill sites or get burnt, both processes are harmful to the environment and we would like to reduce our impact here. For your trip we provide an alternative to single-use plastic bottles in order to reduce the amount of plastic used. This means that safe drinking water will be available throughout so all you need to do is bring a bottle to re-fill along the way. Please add this to your packing list!

Important Information

On all guided trips

Although our leaders are well trained to deal with different capabilities, if they have any concerns about someone’s ability to safely partake in an activity, or their impact on other people’s enjoyment, we authorise them to take necessary action which, in some circumstances, may involve asking someone to miss that activity.

Although rarely enforced, by booking this trip you agree to section 14 of our Booking Conditions which clearly states that our leaders have the authority to do this. In these circumstances we will ensure anyone sitting out is safely provided for and offered alternative options where possible. Refunds will not be provided for activities missed and customers may be liable for additional costs incurred.

On all trips

In booking this trip you should be confident in your ability to participate in all activities described in these Trip Notes. If you have any doubt about your suitability you should call the Exodus office and ask to speak to one of the experts on this itinerary.

Every time that you travel abroad you should take the time to read the warnings in the essential information in the brochure.

Full joining instructions including local emergency numbers, and details of how to reach the start point, will be sent to you approximately 2 to 3 weeks prior to departure. If you do not receive these at least a week before departure, or require them earlier please contact our office or your travel agent.

The information in these Trip Notes is given in good faith. Where differences exist between the Trip Notes and our current brochure or website, the Trip Notes supersede the brochure and website. All holidays can be subject to unexpected changes; in order to enjoy them you should be prepared to be flexible where necessary. Occasionally, as stated in our brochure, it may not be possible to follow the itinerary as planned. This may be for a variety of reasons - climatic, political, physical or other. In these circumstances we will make the best possible alternative arrangements that maintain the integrity of the original itinerary.

As fuel prices, airport taxes and exchange rates fluctuate, and airlines manage their rates to match demand, it is proving harder than ever to guarantee our Flight Inclusive prices. Although we endeavour to keep our website as accurate as possible, daily fluctuations mean that our Flight Inclusive price may be out of date. For accurate prices we recommend that you contact one of our Travel Experts, or your Travel Agent.

This trip includes time by a lake, river or sea, where there may be opportunities to swim. Swimming results in more tourists deaths than any other activity. All customers should always seek local advice before deciding whether to swim, and are requested to treat the sea with extreme caution if they choose to enter the water. Details on how to keep yourself safe while swimming are shown here.

The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office and the NHS have up-to-date advice on staying safe and healthy abroad. For more on security, local laws, plus passport and visa information, see
