Food costs in Nepal

I'm thinking of doing Base Camp Everest and the Gokyo lakes trek, no food is included in the trek - has anyone done it this season and can give an idea of the additional costs (food/drink and tipping as that can be pricey sometimes).  Am trying to encourage some friends to come too and it would be really great to let them know the rough total amount the trip will cost, is £2300ish at the moment!

Hi I did this trek a couple of years ago , I managed on £500 for the whole trek, and had change! There's not much to spend your money on! And if you take your own snacks food , you won't get tempted to buy chocolate, good luck , have fun, n take your time

I did EBC and Gokyo in April/May 2013.

Beds were usually $2-3/night but there are a few places you can splurge and spent $15-20/night which I thought was totally worth it.

Tea is relatively expensive, ~$10 big thermos. I'd usually pay about $5 for each meal and I wasn't being cheap or extravagant.

I ended up spending way more than I anticipated, had to take out more money in Namche. Lots to spend money on in Namche and Lukla. Bought a book at Gokyo. You can also spend money on internet.

Gokyo is incredible, go!
