    An incredible adventure

Wow! What an incredible once in a life time trip. The Galápagos Islands are like nowhere else on earth. Untouched paradise. The boat, the scenery, the weather, staff, wildlife, food - just amazing!

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

Seeing all the wildlife in its natural habitat.

What did you think of your group leader?

Eduardo was excellent. He was very knowledgable, funny, caring and always in hand to help or answer any questions.

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

A full moon affects the sea. I didn’t find any information about this but it does make big waves which can affect the boat journey and landings so maybe worth checking if your worried about sea sickness. Take some extra money for the wet suits, even if you don’t feel cold there is jelly fish in the sea, and although nothing serious it can give you a sting.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Yes it is expensive there is no denying it but it is worth every penny. The Galapagos is a perfect place. The wildlife is right there in front of you. The scenery is incredible. Ecuador don’t let swamps of tourists go there at any one time so it is very unique. The catamaran is an excellent choice not only for the sea sickness but the boat was lovely, and as it’s small number of passengers it meant you could get to know people with the same interests. When you get to go on land there is only a maximum of 16 of you rather than like 50! You all get to go at the same time to do that activity (unlike other cruises) and you all get to do the same activity (again other boats didn’t allow this as they had to many passengers).

A Wonderful Adventure in a Special Place

It really was a privilege to be in these islands. To see so many creatures co-existing, side by side, and, to feel a part of it by getting so close to the wild life, on land and in the ocean, was quite extraordinary. Living on the catamaran, Nemo 11, was an adventure. The crew, and Marcos, our guide, were great - attentive, friendly and supportive, as were our fellow travellers. The food was excellent. All in all, the trip was exciting, informative and great fun.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

All the wild life, for sure. Snorkelling in the company of sea lions and turtles, not to mention some reef sharks, was particularly inspirational.

What did you think of your group leader?

Marcos, our leader, was excellent. He has a wealth of knowledge on all aspects of the islands and was extremely informative, always directing us to areas which would provide good sightings of the wildlife. He was at all times attentive to our health and needs. He was also supportive, encouraging and reassuring, especially when a few of us had doubts about snorkelling in shark-inhabited waters.

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

Sea can be choppy at times which may cause problems for people who are not good sailors. The snorkelling was a great experience, so if you have never done it before, it would be a good idea to learn.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

This trip was a great experience shared with a great bunch of fellow travellers. We highly recommend it.

    Wonderful wildlife of the Galapagos

The Galapagos Islands are such a special place it really is a trip of a lifetime to have the opportunity to be so close to such wonderful wildlife, it really is a privilege. The guides there are extremely knowledgeable and experienced which is essential as there is so much to see you really need someone who can point things out and explain the detail. This particular trip is on a catamaran boat which only has around 8 rooms so this trip is not for you if you suffer from sea sickness, the water was very choppy at times and it did spoil the trip for me despite taking tablets. If you are going you will love it!

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

Snorkelling with sea lions, sea turtles, white tipped reef sharks, penguins and so much more, it was simply amazing, so very special.

What did you think of your group leader?

Our group leader Alexis was so very knowledgeable and very willing to share all he knows, at times he could talk for England! Unfortunately there were a couple of days when he wasn't very well and so was not his usual self, he was quiet and we certainly didn't get as much information on those days. I think it would be good for the tour to have a way to replace a leader if necessary,

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

Do not consider doing this trip if you suffer from motion / sea sickness during the dry season, we went in June at the beginning of the dry season and it was very choppy, one night only 6 people made it to dinner so I wasn't alone! The crew on the boat said that the sea was actually quite good and other months could be significantly worse so you really need to take this into account.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

An inspirational trip despite the sickness, we loved it, the snorkelling and all the wildlife you see is amazing, these beautiful islands are protected but the world is changing and climate change is affecting it so don't miss out and book to go there soon!
