What a wonderful trip to the Picos in Spain. Hotel and food was excellent. Our guides (Nacho and Jairo) were brilliant. I couldn’t fault anything.
All of it! Possibly not some of the muddy conditions, but otherwise everything!
Excellent!
What an awesome trip, great cycling across different terrain, super food and loads to see.
Lunch at the vineyard was excellent. Great to see such wonderful historic towns and cities.
Michele was a brilliant guide, very calm, knowledgeable and always willing to do anything extra for the group.
Pick a trip where Michele is a guide, he is great.
So many wonderful moments. First the people of Botswana are the nicest I’ve ever met. And I’ve traveled a lot. The guide, Ngande, was so knowledge about plants, animals, birds, reptiles and his country. He was professional, friendly and handle even breakdowns (there was one) with efficiency. The cook, Mello, ensure 3 delicious meals a day cooked on an open fire. And the assistants put up tents and made sure details were taken care of.
Now for the wildlife – lions, leopards, warthogs, hyenas, zebras, elephants, hippos, incredible bird life and so much more.
My friend and I agree it was truly the best ever trip and worth our 39 hours of flying❣️❣️❣️
Not just one moment. We had an amazing group of 12 and we all continually had a fantastic time. From baby hyenas to elephants 20 feet away. Incredible.
Ngande was the best. Shared so much, kept us safe and answered a zillion questions. He kept his staff moving and took care of them too. Perfect leader.
Take less then you thought you needed (it gets heavy), winter is chilly, dryer wipes keep the mosquitoes and bugs away, buy a small, powerful camera, Amazon sells a very lightweight sleeping bag, a cotton scarf 🧣 for the dusty car rides, plenty of suntan lotion, and enjoy every moment.
This trip was the most amazing thing I have ever done in my life!! It was tough but so rewarding and has inspired me to do more trips of this nature now.
The complete support from guide to Porter's was absolutely amazing. To watch how hard the Porter's work carrying everything from the toilet to pretty much the kitchen sink! These guys are so inspirational
Our group leader Holger was outstanding from start to end, constantly checking up on every member of the group, being very knowledgeable of the local history and very warm and welcoming at all times
If doing the Inca Trail try to get a certain level of fitness before as this will help make the journey easier
This is a fantastic cycling trip around Bali and Java – two beautiful islands in Indonesia. The Exodus team of guides/driver were brilliant and ensured that everything ran very smoothly. They often went above and beyond. The cycling is great – each ride different but equally stunning. Be prepared for a lot of uphill climbing, but this also means a lot of very fun down hill rides! Some of which are very steep. Because of how many climbs there are on this trip (especially day 2 and day 7 that are very difficult), I would argue this trip should be graded as Moderate/Challenging. There are also a few off-road rides (mostly on the last day). There is an optional ride in the afternoon of day 2 around Batur volcano; our expectations of the challenging terrain on this ride were not quite set accurately enough. Although beautiful, it is incredibly challenging and was harder than expected. It should be made clear that this is definitely optional and should only really be done if you are an advanced cyclist. Cycling 9 days in a row without a rest break is quite tiring, but each day brings a new highlight. The itinerary, overall, is very good. Trekking up to the top of Ijen volcano is amazing, as is snorkelling in northern Bali. Every accommodation is amazing in its own way – camping on the beach was absolutely incredible! An experience I won’t forget. This was one of my favourite cycling trips and I would wholeheartedly recommend it.
Trekking up to Ijen crater (and down again) was more difficult than expected (being very steep), but a real highlight of the trip. Snorkelling from the boat in Bali was beautiful, I even saw a turtle! In general the islands are absolutely stunning and seeing the culture, temples, people and natural beauty was great.
Our group leader (Wira) was fantastic - his knowledge is extensive and he is very friendly and approachable. There were 5 people part of the team and all of them were very caring and made the trip brilliant.
It was my first holiday as a single woman and I was a little nervous. Now I can’t wait to book my next trip with exodus. The guide Alan was excellent – I always felt well looked after and if I found myself a bit behind on some of the climbs I never felt under pressure or at risk of getting lost. Alan’s descriptions of difficulty and distance were a great help and accurate. There was an age range of 20 -70 but we all got on brilliantly. Meals were all taken together ( the possibility of having to eat alone had been another concern for me before booking). The scenery was stunning,, the sea was warm and beautifully clear, motorists were considerate, the food was great and the local people lovely. Personally I preferred the countryside to Dubrovnik but I’m a country girl – there was the most amazing sweet shop in Dubrovnik old town tho 😁
The people - the group I was cycling with and the locals were so supportive cheering everyone as we made it to the top of a tough climb. The views from the top of the hills and swimming in the lake a a few of the best bits - too many other good bits to list them all.
Alan was great. always felt safe, knew where I was going, I felt fine at the back even if I couldn’t always see the person in front because I knew I wouldn’t be left behind . Alan would always keep track of where everyone was. He spent time with everyone in the group cycling at their pace not trying to get people to speed up or slow down. There were briefings often so we all knew what was happening.
I considered taking my own road bike - dont - the bikes were excellent and fitted perfectly even though I’m only 5’3 . Even a hybrid bike would not have coped with to few off road sections. They also provided a handle bar bag that was really useful. Take a cash card or cash - as well as credit card - we used cash for most meals and some places didn’t take cards at all.
If you want to see Sardinia this trip is exactly right. Not only does Exodus practice their usual active holiday but there is also an opportunity to see the coastal and inland caves, the beaches, the Nuraghe villages and archeological musea. The group leader was fantastic and knows how to accommodate to everyone’s needs. The hotel is simple but served some very nice Sardinian meals: lamb, fish and pizza.
The walking category 3 in this case is for the regular hiker. Non walkers should take an alternative program.
The seaside cliffs at Cala Luna really gave some perspective to sea level changes.
Easy going. Trustworthy. Accommodating. Great guy.
Take a lot of water , suntan lotion and a hat.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time on the Exodus tour to Sicily and the Aeolian islands. This was my first ever tour with Exodus and was therefore not quite sure what to expect. Our guides Federica and Marco met us at the airport and were very friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgable. I enjoyed all of our day trips to the different sites included in the itinerary for this tour. In particular, Stromboli, Vulcano and Etna. All three of these volcanos are different from each other and were all worth visiting in my opinion.
The food, accommodation and transport throughout the trip were all fantastic and well organised by the company and our tour guides. As a result, the trip around Sicily and the Aeolian islands ran very smoothly. Our group got on very well and we enjoyed wining and dining together during the evenings.
All in all, I had a wonderful time in Sicily and the Aeolian islands and would like to thank Federica and Marco for such an amazing holiday! I would thoroughly recommend people who are interested in this part of the world and volcanos to consider this trip. You will be warmly welcomed by the guides and will thoroughly enjoy yourself!
I particularly enjoyed walking up Stromboli during the Exodus tour. We had a fantastic view over the crater and were able to watch the eruptions for the best part of an hour or two. Walking up the volcano at sunset and down the other side of the volcano at night was spectacular and something I don't think I will ever forget. Watching the eruptions from a couple of hundred metres away was also just brilliant.
Federica, our group leader, was fun, friendly and very knowledgable. She was very enthusiastic and passionate about the areas that we visited. It was very clear from when we first met her that she wanted all of us to have a great time in Sicily and the Aeolian Islands. Federica was brilliant at guiding us, showing us the local sites and recommending things for us to do during our free time. She even went to the effort of making us all a picnic with local cuisine! Needless to say, our time in Sicily would not have been as fun without her!
Having thoroughly enjoyed touring Puglia last year, we were looking forward to our Dolomites, Lake Garda and Venice trip. And we weren’t disappointed! Everything from the scenery to the food, the hotels to the guide, was wonderful!
It’s hard to pick just one!!! Picturesque villages? Passionate and knowledgeable tour guide? Food? All brilliant! But lunch in the vineyard on the penultimate day was truly wonderful!
Our group leader, Michele, was our tour guide in Puglia and we were delighted that he led this tour as well. As a local to the area, Michele knew so much about the area and shared some gems that we simply wouldn’t have seen if we didn’t have his local knowledge. From our secret view of the Rialto Bridge in Venice with all the students to our personal tour of Vincenzo, Michele made every effort to make our tor special. His professionalism and knowledge was impressive as was his care and attention to make our holiday so enjoyable. Thank you!
Diet before you go! The food is amazing!!!
This was our second Exodus trip and again, we were not disappointed. An itinerary which covered many different ecosystems, plenty of wildlife, pleasant travel companions and an exceptionally knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide all went to make this trip a fantastic two weeks. Lots of early mornings, some long journeys and very hot and humid conditions did nothing to distract from the beauty, diversity and friendliness of Costa Rica. Highly recommended.
Seeing so much wildlife. Sloths, monkeys, raccoons , a huge variety of birdlife and a couple of snakes. Fabulous!
Katia's knowledge about the wildlife, geography and history of Costa Rica was astonishing. As a bird enthusiast, she was able to recognise everything from a tiny glimpse or a snatch of birdsong. In addition, she went out of her way to ensure everyone was enjoying their trip.
Don't forget a sense of humour. It helps enormously when you have a puncture in the middle of nowhere.
