Where to Travel in July

Europe is now at the peak of its summer, so it’s a great month to embark on a Mont Blanc adventure. Further east, you can go camping in the mountains of Kyrgyzstan or head westwards for whale watching in Alaska.

MONT BLANC

Circumnavigate the mountain in summertime

July is a fantastic month to visit Mont Blanc, Western Europe’s tallest mountain, where you can expect reliably good weather. The surrounding towns are in peak-season flow, so after you complete your trek, you can enjoy towns like Chamonix on our Tour du Mont Blanc Week. Or spend longer on the adventure, by taking advantage of the summer temperatures and camping on our 15-day Tour du Mont Blanc Camping Trek.  View all Mont Blanc trips here

MONGOLIA

Celebrate the Naadam Festival

Due to Mongolia’s landlocked location, it has a continental climate, where temperatures have the potential to vary wildly. But during July, you can enjoy predominantly sunny days with average temperatures ranging between 18-28 °C. Aside from the weather, Mongolia also celebrates one of its biggest annual festivals, this month – the Naadam Festival, which celebrates traditional nomadic culture and heritage with horse racing, wrestling and archery. Or join our Mongolia: Steppes, Deserts & Nomads trip. View all Mongolia trips here

KYRGYZSTAN

Explore under sunny skies

The beauty of Kyrgyzstan’s mountain ranges is best appreciated in summer. Low rainfall and warm temperatures make for pleasant hiking conditions through this lesser-explored pocket of Central Asia. It’s also an excellent month for staying in lakeside yurts, like the one you’ll experience on our Kyrgyzstan Walking Explorer trip. View all Kyrgyzstan trips here

ALASKA

Search for wildlife on land and sea

Long, mild days make July the best time of year to visit Alaska. This is due to the wildlife emerging from hibernation, including Alaska’s Big Five – moose, Dall sheep, wolves, caribou, and bears. It’s the best place to travel in July for whale watching too. Summer also brings something of a celebratory atmosphere to the region. Our Alaska Wildlife & Wilderness trip is a camping adventure, so there’s no better time than July to get back to nature and uncover the raw wonder of Alaska. View all Alaska trips here

LADAKH, INDIA

Take on epic mountain passes

July is an ideal time to plan a trip to “the land of high passes”. The snow has sufficiently thawed, there’s very little rainfall and it’s mostly sunny, with an average daily temperature of around 15-20°C, that’s perfect for hiking. On our Trails of Little Tibet, you’ll enjoy gentle treks through the Leh Valley towards the Sankar Monastery and the Lamayuru Monastery in Lamayouro. Or take on our challenging Peaks of Ladakh Trek that allows you to summit Dzo Jongo East (6,096m) and cross seven mountain passes. View all Ladakh trips here
