Where to Travel in March
March is an optimal time to visit the Middle East before the summer heat sets in. While further east, the hot and sunny weather in Vietnam makes it one of the best places to travel in March.
GALAPAGOS
See the islands at their most colourful
Wildlife is the star of the show year-round in the Galapagos, but those keen on snorkelling will enjoy pleasantly warm sea temperatures of 25°C this month, which also attract hammerhead sharks and manta rays. Alongside sightings of blue-footed boobies and sealions, it’s also a great time to see frigatebirds. March marks the beginning of mating season, so you may see the males’ inflated red throat pouches used to attract females. Dry and hot weather in Southeast Asia
Vietnam is one of the best places to travel in March with bright days expected across the entire length of the country. The weather is excellent, particularly in the south which offers hot and dry beach weather, while in the North, Halong Bay is clear and dry. March in Bhutan is extraordinary. Most years, this is when the Paro Festival takes place, on the 10th day of the 2nd Lunar month in the Bhutanese calendar. Bringing ancient culture to life with rituals and dances, it’s an explosion of colour with masked performances, sacred prayer meetings and folk music and you can experience it on our Festivals of Bhutan – Paro trip. Perfect for visiting bazaars
Springtime in Morocco is pleasant and sunny – with daily highs of 20°C. Mild temperatures and fewer crowds make it ideal for visiting the souks and bazaars in Marrakech and Fez, or for wandering around the fortified village of Ait Benhaddou and the ruins of Volubilis on our Highlights of Morocco trip. It’s also a great time to head out on our Marrakech & the Sahara adventure, as the heat is yet to reach its summer intensity, but we’d recommend bringing some warmer clothes for your overnight stay in the Bedouin camp.
