Where to Travel in November

Where to Travel in November

Mexico is the best place to travel in November if you want to get swept up in the Day of the Dead festivities. You can also savour the last of Europe’s fine weather or head to South America for the start of its summer.

MEXICO

Join the Day of the Dead festivities

Mexico’s Day of the Dead festivities in Romerillo begins on 1 November, when offerings are made to loved ones who have passed away. At this time of year, the rains have mostly stopped, and the temperature is pleasant for adventures across the country, such as exploring the incredible Maya site of Chichén Itzá or venturing into the jungles and beaches of the Yucatán. So why not visit Mexico and watch the colourful parade on our Mexico: Maya,
Aztecs & Conquistadors Day of the Dead Festival (Oaxaca)? View all Mexico trips here

PORTUGAL

Cycle beautiful and quiet trails

In late autumn, bright weather is typically still lingering in Portugal, and we think it’s one of the best places to travel in November. From Lisbon to the Algarve, the temperature sits comfortably around 18 °C this month, making it perfect for biking, hiking, sightseeing, and generally being outdoors. The summer crowds are long gone, which means that the cities and golden beaches you’ll find along the way on our Lisbon to Algarve Ride and the ancient flower-lined levadas in tropical Madeira are all yours.  View all Portugal trips here

SICILY

Discover the island’s cultural sites

It may be low season on the largest island in the Mediterranean Sea, but that’s no reason to stay away. Exploring the sights and ruins at their quietest makes for a more peaceful experience than when the summer tourists throng. The weather is still pleasantly warm but not too hot, making it ideal for exploring the Baroque towns of Noto and Ragusa Ibla and fascinating archaeological sites in Selinunte and Syracuse. Visit in November on our Treasures of Sicily or Sicily Grand Tour trips. View all Sicily trips here

Visit Chile when it’s bright and sunny

It’s nearing the end of spring in Chile and Patagonia is in full bloom. If you’re keen on covering plenty of ground with visits to the Atacama salt flats in the North and the glaciers of Patagonia and Petrohue Falls in the far south, our Discover Chile trip has departures in November when the days are longer and warmer. Or take a deeper dive into the wonders of Torres del Paine National Park on our Patagonian Highlights trip. View all Chile trips here
