Torres del Paine National Park

One of nature’s finest creations, Torres del Paine covers a vast landscape where the three iconic peaks of Las Torres loom over huge glaciers, silent forests and intensely emerald lakes. Los Glaciares National Park – Perito Moreno

Situated in Argentina’s Austral Andes, Los Glaciares National Park is known for its untouched beauty and was listed as a Unesco World Heritage Site in 1981. The park is made up of woodland, lakes, mountains and the Patagonian Steppe which all compete for your attention. At the southernmost region of Los Glaciares National Park you’ll find the country’s most famous glacier, Perito Moreno. Every so often it is possible to witness huge chunks of ice break off and fall into the lake and then float away as icebergs.

Los Glaciares National Park – Fitz Roy Massif

The dramatic peaks of Monte Fitz Roy cast shadows over the landscape in the north of Los Glaciares National Park. This entire area is a hiker’s paradise. A challenging day hike to Laguna de Los Tres, the lake at the base of Monte Fitz Roy, is highly recommended and offers an incredibly scenic spot to gaze at the Fitz Roy Massif. This area is best explored from El Chaltén, a small mountain town commonly known as the ‘trekking capital of Argentina’.

Tierra del Fuego

The Magellan Strait separates the archipelago of Tierra del Fuego from the far south of mainland South America. This is one of the most remote and isolated areas of Patagonia, so called the ‘Land of Fire’ after the original inhabitants who used to light bonfires to ward off the winter chill. In the stark wilderness of Tierra del Fuego National Park, there is hiking among varied terrain, flora and fauna. Alternatively join a boat ride along the Beagle Channel in search of penguins, sea lions and birds.

Ushuaia

At the southernmost corner of the world stands Ushuaia, an enigmatic city where adventurers head off on voyages of the Antarctic to brave the Drake Passage and follow in the footsteps of famous explorers.
