Any Fellow Climbers for Rongai Route on 15 Aug???

Hi - we are Dave and Cat and are booked on the Rongai route climb starting on 15 August. Would love to catch up with any fellow climbers prior to departure. Good luck with the training.

Hi guys - I'm Madeline and my boyfriend Ken and I are also going on this trip. Very excited now (although still about 5 weeks away!). How's the training going? We were in the Lake District last weekend which helped to break in the boots (and the legs). Almost all the gear is sorted although slightly concerned it might not all fit in the kit bag...

Hi Madeline. We have just got back from doing Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis over the weekend which were fantastic - cloud came in on the top of Scafell but Ben Nevis was spectacular. Legs are a little sore now (inlcuding those of our boxer dog who is doing the training with us ... pics are under images section on the TYW route info) and we are walking with rucksacks to get used to it. Where abouts are you in the UK? - we're near Cheddar so weekends/evenings will be lots more walks around the Mendip Hills and Brecon Beacons if you are local and want to come along. Dave & Cat

Hi guys,

I'll be joining you, too. We have just laughed with my wife Barbara, that hopefully I won't be the only "solo" climber there :). I see you are all training :) and it is the same for me. Now already everyday 1-1,5 hours.

This is my first high altitude climb for me. I come from Slovenia and we go up to 2800 m.

I'll be flying from Heathrow on Friday 14th with evening flight Kenya Airways. If somebody is there, we can maybe there.

See you.

Hi Janez

We are on the same flight as you so will look to meet up at Heathrow - can't believe its only a couple of weeks away now. We'll have to chat nearer the time to arrange how to recognise one another but probably our kit bags will give it away. We are doing our climb for two charities so we are determined to get to the top.

Hi there,

I'll be joining you all on the 15th, but will be travelling on my own.

Am getting very excited about it all - it's the first time I've been to Africa, let along done something like this. I don't think Snowdon or some of the other ones that I've done in the UK really compare to this (and those were years ago). Should be great :-)

See anyone travelling from Heathrow on the 14th and others on the 15th.

Hi everyone

Getting rather nervous and excited now. Cat - thanks for the great offer but we're in London so a bit of a trek (excuse the pun!) to get over your way - you're very lucky to have lovely hills so close!

As someone who hates taking medicines etc I feel like my kitbag will be a mobile pharmacy with the various tablets and a year's worth of blister plasters. I wish I hadn't stocked up on hand gel 3 months ago as it's so much cheaper now swine flu is taking over. Feel like such a weakling as the yellow fever vaccine made me feel terrible - could hardly breathe for a couple of days! I hope my reaction to the altitude isn't as bad!

Will probably make the flight next Friday just in the nick of time as usual so Ken and I will prob see you all at the other end with Exodus kitbags in hand...
