Best footwear for Borneo

Would I be better taking lightweight walking boots (thick woolen socks would be needed) or sensible trainers and walking sandals?

Is there anyone else going?

Hi Kate I am on this trip and regarding boots I am taking my Meindl (appropriately called Borneo) leather boots which look chunky but are light and comfortable. I wore them in the rainforest in Madagascar and the only part of me kept dry was my feet.  Everyone else in fabric boots or trainers got dirty wet feet.  However, it is a personal choice, wear whatever is comfortable, my boots are as comfy as slippers.

I am an oldie too am 70 in body but still young in head my friends think I am mad at times hence screen name

I think your screen name is great. My friends think I'm mad too but I feel like a five year old anticipating Christmas. Looked at the Meindl website, they are serious boots and too late to 'wear them in' so its going to be my lightwear boots (which are very comfortable) and maybe wet feet -which will dry eventually! Thank you for replying, looking forward to meeting another 'young in the head oldie'

Kate my Meindl boots never needed wearing in but I definitely wouldn't have bought them just for this trip, too expensive, your lightweight boots will be fine.

Thank you for your advice. Looking forward to meeting you. Will try and spot a 'serious pair of boots' at the check-in at Heathrow.
