Inca trail during rainy season

I am planning on doing the Peru Explorer trip in December but am aware that wll be the rainy season.  How does one manage to dry one's clothes?  Will hotels have laundry facilities?

Hi, my advice would be take quick drying travel clothing, travel wash and a washing line. Also a reasonable quality poncho is essential for travel to the Tropics where it can rain very heavily.

Thanks Jon, much appreciated:)

Hi Alice,

On the Peru Explorer trip there are several hotels where you will stay for two nights (in Arequipa, Colca Canyon, Puno and Cuzco) and most towns offer a fast laundry service (including drying and ironing) so you can drop off washing on the day of arrival and pick it up (or have it delivered) the next day. Also, in Cuzco, you can arrange for washing to be collected on the day you arrive and it will be ready for you the following morning before you travel to the Sacred Valley. If you prefer to do your own washing, then you can do it during these 2-night stays and dry it in your hotel bathroom. Hotel laundry prices are quite high and are per item, so it's usually cheaper to use the local laundry services which charge somewhere in the region of US$2-5 per kilo depending on how quickly you need the washing back.

Hope you have a great trip,

Tim (Peru trip manager)
