Petra - not the Blue Peter dog

Hopefully one of my fellow travellers will read this. It is a fully booked trip after all! By all accounts this trip is very popular.

Petra certainly looks very impressive. The photos I've seen certainly are and I remember its appearance in the Indiana Jones film too. The Wadi Rum area gained prominence some years ago asv a rock climbing destination.

I'm a bit unsure of the weather to expect at this time of the year. I am pretty sure that a decent sleeping bag will be needed as the nights should be a bit "chilly". Better to have warm gear, you can always take some off if it gets too hot. Rather than shivering and having nothing else to wear.

Just noticed that my first post had the wrong trip date on it. Can't work out how to edit it. I am on the 16th March trip (not 9th Feb). Bleedin' computers!

I have a 5 season (yes I thought there were only 4 too) sleeping bag purchased especially for this trip so as not to be cold at night - weather is currently is 3-5 degC at night so in comparison to the day time temperatures will seem chilly. I'm also bringing a silk liner which will take it to 6 seasons...if it is really cold.

mmn, better check my sleeping bag, Katy has given me an idea that i might need a warmer one, i dont like getting cold at night. see you tomorrow
