Whales and Leopards of Sri Lanka - 23rd Nov

Hi, just booked our first exodus holiday and would love to meet our fellow travellers, I know it's a little early to be in the departure lounge...but I just CAN'T WAIT!!! :-)

Hi Chrissy - We are looking forward to the trip too. We are going to Sigiriya for a few days before joining the tour at Colombo.

Hi Kev and Julie, great to hear form you! Have you been to Sri Lanka or on a safari type holiday before? Paul (my husband) and I haven't, hence the excitement. We've read all the notes, had our jabs and bought a new camera, which we've recently been testing out at our local wildlife park! :-)

Hi Chrissy and Paul, we have not been to Sri Lanka before but have been to Goa and also toured Central India. We are addicted to safaris having previously been to South Africa and Kenya so we are really looking forward to Yala especially the leopard and sloth bear. Don't forget to bring warm clothes (fleece and hats) for the early morning game drives.

Thanks for the reminder to take fleece and hats, I'll probably start packing soon...only 7 weeks to go!!! :-) As 'Safari Experts' any other tips you have would be most appreciated. I thinks we've thought of everything but you never know. Paul is a little concerned about biting insects (they always seem to be attracted to him, poor thing) and he has researched the best repellant and bought rather a lot of it, one for skin, one for clothes...the lot!!!

We usually make sure that the insect repellant contains at least 50% deet, using both a spray and wipes which are good for the face area. Another thing we use is deet bands which you can buy on the internet for wearing during the day and they last ages. At least we are not in a malaria zone so that saves having to take anti malaria tablets.
