July 28, 2017Read time - 1 minuteWelcome to Carly’s Kilimanjaro Challenge!Exodus is partnering with Carly Rowena, a Personal Trainer and Fitness blogger from the UK, to offer a fantastic tailormade Kilimanjaro Climb along the lesser trekked Rongai Route in February 2018. The Rongai RouteCarly likes to think of herself as "the girl next door who never wants to have to turn down a meal just to stay in shape". She is all about independence and finding a healthy and happy way to feel incredible in our own skin. With its gentle gradient and sense of unspoilt wilderness, the Rongai Route approaches Kilimanjaro from the north and is less crowded than the most popular trails. We trek through farmlands, forest and alpine moorlands as we approach the beautiful summit cone. This route allows an extra day for acclimatisation under the imposing spires of Mawenzi, before the arduous final ascent. Summiting KilimanjaroThe final climb begins in darkness but our reward is an incomparable dawn vista over the sweeping East African plains. There is the option to wind down in Zanzibar and enjoy yoga sessions along the white sandbanks of Fumba Beach Lodge. The summit of KilimanjaroTake a look at our Kilimanjaro trips and take the challenge for yourself.
