Thoughts on Group Leader
Really enthusiastic and loved his job, and it showed. He booked some amazing local restaurants, with excellent food. Nothing was too much trouble for Ruben.

Great tour guide, Ruben, made the trip really great.
Really enthusiastic and loved his job, and it showed. He booked some amazing local restaurants, with excellent food. Nothing was too much trouble for Ruben.
Our guides Ruben and Thomas were fantastic, loved the Loire Valley, our hotels were awesome, everything was perfect and the guys were so helpful. Lunches by Thomas were excellent. No complaints here
The castles and our wine experience with Danielle Gatey, very very special, learnt so much and I don't drink wine. I might do now tho
Rubin was fantastic, we were a small group of 5 so we got to know each other very well
Loved this place, especially the amazing French food we had for lunch in such pretty spots. This was our 6th cycling trip with Exodus, the local tour guides have all been awesome, very helpful and knowledgeable.
The food and wine tasting was amazing! And that bike ride along the Loire? The paths were perfect.
Very helpful, had a great sense of humor
Ruben and Thomas provided exceptional service showcasing the Loire Valley. The integrated cycling, wine tasting, and walking tours were outstanding.
Cycling through wonderful countryside.
Ruben possessed extensive expertise in all aspects of French history.
My trip to Sri Lanka was truly magical. Not only did we see over 100 elephants while on safari, but we also spent three hours gazing out of a train window at the misty tea hills of Nuwara Eliya. This trip was the perfect mix of sightseeing and activities – we travelled by boat, tuk-tuk, train, 4×4, and even on foot during a hike up Sigiriya! I travelled in September, so we had quite a bit of rain in Kandy, but it only added to the lush, tropical scenery, which was absolutely beautiful. Sri Lanka should be experienced by everyone!
Witnessing so many elephants gather around a watering hole with their babies whilst in Kaudulla National Park - just magical!
Mahen was charming, hilarious, and absolutely in love with his home. His knowledge of Sri Lanka was incredible, and there wasn’t a quiet moment on the trip when he wasn’t sharing a fascinating fact, piece of history, or story. Mahen adjusted the itinerary to suit our group’s needs and made sure we visited busier spots, such as Lion’s Rock and Kaudulla National Park, during quieter hours - we often felt like we had the attractions all to ourselves. Mahen’s co-pilot was equally wonderful and kind. He always greeted us with flowers when we boarded the coach, handed us umbrellas when it rained, and treated our luggage with such care. Thank you, Mahen and your co-pilot, for taking our trip above and beyond!
Take clothing for all types of weather. I visited in September, and Nuwara Eliya was very chilly, Kandy was very wet, and Colombo and Wattala were super hot! Be sure to bring plenty of suncream, cover-ups for temples, and a rain jacket.
I did this trip in September 2025 and this is by far the best one I have done so far. This trip shows you how diverse the country is with its different ecosystems and wildlife. From the Caribbean coast over to the Pacific. Everywhere you look there is an abundance of wildlife from the colourful birds and larger mammals/primates right down to the tiny frogs and leaf cutter ants.
There are so many, I think probably watching the Turtle nesting or the excitement of trying to spot the male Quetzal at 5am! Photographing my first Scarlet Macaw.
Johnny was fantastic, he knew the answer to absolutely every question that we could throw at him about the wildlife and country in general. He is very passionate about conservation and had many stories about how the country had changed and the people he has met. He arranged for extra walks not included in the itinerary and had an amazing eye for spotting things right in front of us that I would never had seen without him. I chose this departure because he was going to be the leader and he certainly went above and beyond.
Be prepared for all kinds of weather, one minute it would be nice and sunny and the next we were in a rain storm! Don't be put off by the rainy season, we experienced 3 afternoons of rain on the entire trip and the rain made it possible to see so many species on the night walk. Colonies are the currency here and you can get them in the UK before you fly but you can pay in US Dollars, (smaller notes, not many places can change anything above a $20) and nearly everywhere took some form of cards. Don't leave your souvenir shopping till the airport, if you see something grab it, the airport costs were very expensive.
Another great Exodus trip. Beautiful views, relaxing walks along deserted beaches and cliff top paths. Rafael, Francisco & good company made it a very enjoyable week!
This tour really had it all in terms of a broad range of experiences that took you from the mountains to the coast to the desert and so much in between. Everyday brought something interesting to experience, photograph and talk about with fellow travellers. There were 13 travellers in our van, and that was a large enough group! Most of the accommodations were fine. We very much enjoyed dinners at the riads and the family home. It was an awesome and inspiring trip that brought a deeper appreciation of a Muslim country. Every sense was engaged! We found the people warm, welcoming, and kind. It is not likely that we will return (given that there are numerous bucket list countries yet to visit), and this trip felt like it truly satisfied our curiosity.
One of the most inspiring moments was seeing the Sahara desert; the abrupt change in the land to massive dunes was mind boggling. It is hard to pick out just one inspiring moment as everyday seemed to bring forth something. The way every sense was engaged was inspiring!
Our group leader was amazing. He had tremendous patience and maintained composure, flexibility, and kindness without fail. Muhammad deserves recognition for his role in making this trip fabulous. He was very open and willing to answer every question. He was very proud of his country, and it showed. We found that inspiring.
Pay attention to the trip notes!! They were right on. Take a pair of flip flops. We found that a T-shirt or tank top with a linen over shirt worked the best. Loose fitting pants for hot days riding in the van are a must. A pashmina/shawl was the best thing I packed. Travel with carryon if you can; we were glad we did! Bring a reusable water bottle for sure!!! We forgot and regretted it. Exodus provided water, which was great. Respect the customs of the country, and use the advice of the leader.
A very immersive trip that travelled the whole way round Sicily visiting beautiful towns and historical sites on the way. Our guide Tiziano was passionate about showing us the real Sicily and made sure we visited all the best sites, ate the best food and experienced new and exciting things at every stop. All the hotels were well placed to allow us to explore on our own. The expert guides we met at the historical sites were amazing and super knowledgeable and made each of the site come to life
I loved the roman mosaics at Villa Romana and we were there early to ensure we got to walk around with our guide before the crowds arrived
Our group leader Tiziano was amazing!! He was knowledgeable & super well organized so we knew the plan for each day and could sit back and just enjoy. He had a lot of fun making sure we ate real Sicilian food including huge Cannoli in Palermo!!
If the weather is hot eat a lot of granita and make sure you ask for brioche to go with it!
An amazing adventure to the top of Africa on a much less crowded route than Lemosho.
This was my first high altitude experience, and the professionalism of the leader and the assistant guides in making sure that the group were well looked after was second to none.
Seeing everyone in the group pushing their limits, and meeting Lucy, who has benefitted from the Mountain Lioness Project. Seeing the impact that the project has had not only on her but also hearing about all the other people it has impacted too was lovely.
David was sensitive to each of the groups individual needs, had a great sense of humor, and was exceptional at getting everyone to push their limits and see what we were actually capable of - everything that you could want in a leader!
I cannot stress the importance of enough are dry bags for both your kitbag that the porters will be carrying, and your daypack. Some people on my trip did not have these, and after experiencing some inclement conditions and opening your kitbag to find everything inside soaking wet it made getting comfortable in the tents quite difficult.
