Truly the experience of a lifetime

I’ve wanted to do this trip for over 20 years and it exceeded all my expectations. I did this trip with my 16 year old son in the long summer break after his GCSEs and it was the most perfect father-son time we’ve ever shared. The views are incredible, the air as clean as it comes and the team were just outstanding. Our guide, Wilmer, led the group expertly despite different walking speeds, and the porters were just humbling. This trip ticked every single one of my boxes and we look back on it with both the sense of achievement and the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Most Inspirational Moment

Day three is the most beautiful - coming over the second high pass (after Dead Woman's Pass), the landscape is just breath-taking. And then of course, laying eyes on Machu Picchu for the first time ever was tear-jerking.

Exceptional

Advice for Potential Travellers

Do it! If you have a reasonable level of fitness, you should be able to complete the trek and it is a truly rewarding end-to-end experience. Expect lots of steps, but this itinerary isn't as rushed as some of the other companies we saw trying to fit the distance into fewer nights, so Exodus's pacing feels spot-on.

A Peruvian Adventure Not to Miss

This was our first time with Exodus and we are already looking for our next trip. Essential Peru was an amazing adventure packed with sights, sounds, smells and experiences that would be hard to beat. We saw so much and experienced everything from thunder and rainbows at Machu Picchu , to haute cuisine, to historical sites, high mountain passes, thousand year old plants, vicunas, llamas, and alpacas, sailing on Lake Titicaca, staying with a family on Amantani Island, hiking, and condors.

Most Inspirational Moment

Obviously, Machu Picchu was incredible but I think that driving through the high Andes and seeing plants that are literally thousands of years old and still growing was mind boggling. Every part of the trip brought something new and something incredible, beautiful, breathtaking and awe inspiring.

Our tour leader, Giscard, was great! He was knowledgeable, efficient, kind, funny, caring, intelligent, and very likeable! He looked after everyone on the tour and made sure we were all happy and comfortable. He explained each step and went out of his way to address any needs or concerns while regaling us with anecdotes and stories and information. He made sure we were all following the recommendations concerning altitude as well as having us test our blood oxygen twice a day as per company recommendations. If someone was ill or under the weather he made sure they were well looked after and that nobody was left to figure things out alone. I can't say enough good things about him.

Advice for Potential Travellers

The weather was very changeable and we found we needed warm clothing as well as t shirts and shorts. Hats, sunglasses, sun cream, motion sickness medication if you need it as there is a lot of bus travel and some boat travel, and good walking shoes are all necessary. I took just one pair of walking shoes and that was plenty though some people liked to wear sandals sometimes too. Insect repellant is useful and a good camera. The condors are incredible but my phone was pretty useless for getting good pictures. Don't forget any day to day medications that you take and eat at the places recommended by your tour guide as they know how you can avoid food poisoning. There is always plenty of water provided, so bring your favourite water bottle with you.

Another Incredible Trip

A feast of experiences and sensations.

Most Inspirational Moment

Reaching the coast at the end of our trip

Thoughts on Group Leader

Abhi was the perfect ambassador for his country. Always wanting to ensure that we got the best out of our trip. Nothing was too much trouble for him and his support team.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Have no preconceptions, you won’t be disappointed just enjoy all that India has to offer. The people are warm and inviting and you are never far away from a wave and a smile.

Amazing South Africa

The trip was a wonderful way to see some of Southern Africa, we enjoyed the safari’s and boat trips. We had wonderful accommodation across the whole itinerary. The people were very friendly and the food and wine along the way was of good quality and plentiful. The coastline is amazing and the weather in October was pleasant. Our group was small , but it meant we had the opportunity to get to know one another quite well. Our guide Marco was very knowledgeable and good company.

Most Inspirational Moment

Hard to pick any one place, but the boat trip from Hermanus was the best. We saw a mother and calf Right Whale which was fantastic. It was magical and we were lucky that they stayed near our boat for quite a long time.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our group leader was Marco, he was an excellent guide and provided the group with lots of information and details about the places we travelled to and stayed at. He knew a lot about the local customs and cultures and helped us understand the different groups of people who lived in both East and West South Africa. He was extremely helpful and very patient also willing to go the extra mile when necessary. I would highly recommend Marco as a tour guide.

Advice for Potential Travellers

If you haven't travelled to South Africa before, this is a good way to see it. Some of the activities are slightly challenging, but if you are able bodied then there is a lot to take part in.

An adventure to treasure forever!

From sunrise mist in the Sapa hills to sunset sails across the limestone peaks of Lan Ha Bay, the AOS Vietnam trip is pure, soul‑stirring adventure. Each day brought a fresh burst of wonder.Kayaking quiet coves, cycling through Hoi An’s lantern‑lit countryside, and wandering heritage streets that felt like living poetry while our expert guides kept things effortless and full of fun! If you’re looking for a journey that’s heartfelt, adventurous, and unforgettable, this is the one!

Most Inspirational Moment

What stays with me most are the human moments: sharing a meal in a welcoming hill‑community near Sapa, listening to stories that deepened our connection to the land and its people, and laughing with new friends who quickly felt like family. It wasn’t just a trip it was a collection of memories I’ll carry for life, stitched together by AOS’s thoughtful design and spirit of discovery.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our tour leader Thuong was truly exceptional! She was thoughtful, passionate, and inspired us every step of the way with tenacity and deep knowledge of Vietnam.

Advice for Potential Travellers

For those planning this adventure, prepare for all weather conditions, pack insect repellent and sturdy walking shoes, and keep your luggage light since most hotels offer laundry services. If you are planing to do some shopping, keep some space in your luggage! A small sleeping bag can add extra warmth and comfort on the overnight train and homestay.

Stunning landscapes, good walking

Who would have thought (without this trip) that there could be such astonishingly lively, unspoiled and (for the most part) unfrequented mountain terrain – and such beautiful and varied walking – just a stone’s throw from the infamous high-rise resort of Benidorm?

Most Inspirational Moment

If high places, sweeping views, dramatic cliffs and rock formations, sun, sky, sea, forest, wild flowers and a general absence of people rock your boat, the trip will be full of inspiring moments.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Also inspiring. Extremely knowledgable about his region, and generous in sharing a vast and varied range of information on all sorts of (interesting) topics, which further enriched the walks. Funny, engaging, astute; he was fundamentally kind-hearted but without being particularly indulgent. He kept an eye on us, but didn't coddle us. We were expected to take responsibility for ourselves (and for keeping up) on the walks. And It was stated at the outset that there could/would be limited tolerance for dawdlers! In an ideal world, and given the glorious October weather, I'd probably have enjoyed the walks (even more than I already did) at a slightly more relaxed pace, the better to absorb the magnificent surroundings en route and probably take more photos; but I was still able to do both things - just maybe a little more hurriedly than I am used to. I imagine that the pace/timetable was however in part dictated by the amount José had still to achieve following our daily return from the walk, including the next day's shopping and picnic preparation. He was a one-man tour-de-force organisationally: incredibly hardworking/dedicated to the cause. He provided excellently for us at lunchtime daily (making genuinely the most tasty and satisfying sandwiches that I've ever been fed on a walking holiday!) as well as transporting us safely and punctually by minibus, organising, leading, educating and entertaining us throughout the trip. And only occasionally appeared a bit weary.. 😉

Advice for Potential Travellers

Hone your fitness to enjoy the walks to the full. Be prepared for long, steep ascents and descents. Make sure you're prepared for cold mountaintops even in good weather (in October, anyway). Be prepared for a superb week of walking and scenery. Make sure you download either maps.me or the app José recommends before you do the first self-guided walk: it will ensure you find the correct route. The local village of Guadalest is very attractive and the castle well worth paying to enter/explore. The midweek day-trip to the coast is also very worthwhile and both towns are well worth exploring. The little history museum in the first coastal town is worth a visit.

A wonderful introduction to Costa Rica’s natural wonders

This trip truly lives up to its name and was an unforgettable way to experience Costa Rica’s incredible biodiversity. From lush rainforests and wildlife-rich national parks to volcanic landscapes and the coast, the itinerary felt perfectly balanced and thoughtfully paced, with each destination offering something new and exciting.

One of the real highlights was the wildlife. Seeing animals in their natural habitat was a daily occurrence, made even more special by the expertise of our local leader. Their knowledge, enthusiasm and ability to spot wildlife we would otherwise have missed added huge value to the experience and brought the landscapes to life.

The trip also offered a great mix of guided walks, scenic drives and time to simply take in the surroundings, making it feel immersive without ever being rushed. Early starts were well worth it for the rewarding wildlife encounters and peaceful moments in nature.

Overall, this adventure is ideal for anyone wanting to explore Costa Rica’s natural highlights in depth, with the reassurance of excellent organisation and an outstanding local leader. A truly memorable journey through one of the world’s most beautiful and biodiverse countries.

Most Inspirational Moment

Spotting a mother slot with her baby high in the trees and watching them move slowly through the canopy, completely at home in their natural environment. With our leader explaining its behaviour and conservation, it was a quiet, magical moment that perfectly captured the beauty of Costa Rica’s wildlife and the importance of protecting it.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Excellent! Humble, caring, attentive, a brilliant story teller and most importantly, he is passionate! Randall was brilliant.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Pack for all weather, embrace early starts and bring a sense of curiosity. A good pair of walking shoes, lightweight layers and binoculars will really enhance the experience. Most importantly, slow down and take it all in — some of the best moments come from standing quietly and letting Costa Rica’s wildlife reveal itself.

Perfect way to experience the best of Sri Lanka!

This truly is an excellent trip, and way to see beautiful Sri Lanka at a good pace. You cover so much in 2 weeks, and every day is different with sightseeing, walking, cycling, wildlife – there really is something for everyone. Sri Lanka is a fantastic country with wonderfully welcoming people.
This trip really makes you feel you are benefitting the local communities that you are interacting with – spending time with local families, playing traditional games and getting a deeper understanding day-to-day life and traditions. You get a better understanding for the tougher and sadder side of the history of the country, while gaining a deeper appreciation for the resilience of the joyful people who live there. It really is a wonderful trip, made better by a great group and leader!

Most Inspirational Moment

Walking Sigiriya Rock - an amazing view from the top and sense of achievement for the group! The times spent with local families were also highlights - fantastic lunch under a banyan tree and hearing more about their local business, and playing traditional games on a families farm, our group had so much fun this day and shared loads of laughs.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Roshan was the epitome of a fantastic guide. He's been leading this tour for 20+ years and his knowledge, expertise and professionalism is stand-out. We were unlucky to be on this tour when Cyclone Ditwah hit, and Roshan was absolutely fantastic looking after us as a group, arranging excellent "Plan B's" where needed, while also managing a really sad and devastating situation happening in his country. He brought calmness and good humour every day and is a brilliant ambassador for Exodus.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Go with the flow and just enjoy it - November is rainy, but expect that, and be open to plans changing and trusting the guides judgement to still make every day brilliant. All optional activities need to be paid for in cash, so take some local currency or exchange it on arrival, as the first ATM is a few days away on the tour, and not everywhere accepts card payments (some lunch stops). Be prepared for hotel buffets - the accommodation is great, but often further away from towns. The food was often a wide variety and always tasty. Take good mosquito repellent from home, and plenty of it - you can't buy DEET there! The bus can get chilly with air conditioning - suggest leaving a jumper/extra layer on the bus for this - especially for the longer journeys

Unforgettable trip along the Annapurnas!

This trip was unforgettable! Many people choose to do the Annapurna Circuit on their own and they mainly follow the Jeep track, which didn’t appeal to us. We were so happy and grateful that we decided to go with Exodus – we had the best guides! Sukman and his assistant guides Dipendra and Lakpa Sherpa were fantastic.

We had knock knock tea in the mornings – loved that part, and followed a mix of alternate trails (that weren’t well known) with certain sections along the main Jeep track. On those quieter trails, we rarely encountered other trekkers and definitely no other tour groups. We did pass herds of goats and met local people. We only saw other people along the main jeep track.

Two days before reaching Thorong La Pass, we had heavy snow. Thanks to Sukman’s expertise, he made the difficult decision to backtrack immediately. Many trekkers without guides, or those who chose to wait out the storm, ended up stranded at high camp and had to be rescued. We were fortunate to make it safely off the mountain in time, though it meant rerouting the second half of our trip. Even with the detour – we thoroughly this trip thanks to the amazing team. The porters were also incredible companions. Without them, carrying all of our belongings for three weeks would have been tough!!

Most Inspirational Moment

Day 1 was super memorable - we crossed suspension bridges, passing rivers and waterfalls, over rice paddies and hiked up and down many steps through villages. What an intro to what was ahead! One of the most inspiring days for me was Day 7 - starting from Upper Pisang, our Teahouse view was of Annapurna II! We made our way to Ngawal. This day definitely gave us a taste of a continuous climb up as we were just days before the high pass, the views were stunning and it just got better and better as the day unfolded. You look back thinking, I can't believe we came from all the way down *there*.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Sukman was exceptionally caring, kind, and patient throughout the trek. He led from the back, ensuring that everyone in the group was well taken care of. Our safety was his top priority. Sukman’s knowledge of the mountains and local life & culture was very inspiring. We would 100% travel with him again in the future!

Advice for Potential Travellers

Be mindful of what you pack, and keep your KITBAG weight within the 10kilo limit. You travel with local human porters, who work incredibly hard -something many people don’t fully appreciate. Overpacking can be quite selfish. If you forget something, don’t worry—you’ll still find supplies along the route - For example, in Chame and Manang. We were able to pick up our YakTrax right before Yak Kharka. High altitude is no joke, so having a comfort item can make a big difference. Just remember, keep your load within the weight limits.
