Breathtaking week walking on the Islands….

A fantastic varied moderately challenging weeks walking with superb views from every top!
Having always wanted to visit Lofoten this week didn’t disappoint…blessed with blue skies every day was a stunning adventure…beautiful quaint fisherman’s villages to rugged mountain tops straight out of the sea.
Each day was different and we had time for some cultural visits after the days walking.

Most Inspirational Moment

Getting to the first top of the week withs its beautiful views inspired me but it became a daily occurrence…words cannot describe how amazing Lofoten is….

Thoughts on Group Leader

Jakob our local group leader was obviously very proud and passionate about his own islands..he was very enthusiastic and gave us lots of interesting local knowledge. A great guy and a very good guide…

Advice for Potential Travellers

Just go and enjoy the islands! You won’t be disappointed! If I was to advise on anything it would be to take some good quality walking boots, as some of the paths are rocky with some mild scrambling so good footwear essential!

Challenging walks, spectacular views!

A real level 4 trip, with steep sections on most days, some scrambling and rocky paths, but also some gentler parts along ridges and the coastline, with the rewarding views over majestic fjords, hidden beaches and colourful villages and the Lofoten archipelago in the background.

Most Inspirational Moment

Reaching the top of each walk and thinking there can't be anything more spectacular.... and being proven wrong the next day! Staying a few nights in comfortable converted fishermen's cabins and imagining their lives back in the days.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Jakob is an experienced hiking leader and was perfect for the job as he lives locally and is very knowledgeable about the whole area. You could see he wanted us to have a great week, always encouraging us, being flexible with the itinerary and listening to our comments and needs. He was also a lot of fun to be with and even brought local treats for us on a walk!

Advice for Potential Travellers

Do bring waterproof top & bottom and waterproof walking boots. The weather can be very changing, and the ground boggy in some places. Walking poles are also strongly recommended, to go up as well as down (helps with the knees). No need to bring cash in Norway, everything can be paid by card. ATMs available in various places if needed. Try the local fish and seafood, and the cinnamons buns!

Rome, Perugia, Assisi and Umbria

A good mix of 3 days of walking through the Umbrian countryside, plus tours of Rome, Perugia and Assisi. Excellent guides in Rome and Perugia. (Assisi is self guided). Splendid hotel in Umbria with an excellent pool that enabled us to relax at the end of each day. But the quality of the food in the restaurant was erratic.

Most Inspirational Moment

Several: Walking along to Roman Aqueduct to Spello and the mosaics in the Roman Villa at Spello. Sunset over Todi. The wine and beer tastings were very good. And the cookery class was fun.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Nico was very knowledgeable and was an excellent guide. His restaurant recommendations were excellent.

Advice for Potential Travellers

The walks could be done in trainers, but as some paths can be muddy, walking shoes or boots are preferable. Probably not a suitable holiday for solo travellers as the single supplement is very expensive and out of kilter with the hotel prices.

Superb Slovenia

A fantastic week with a variety of different walks and a large selection of options for the free day.

Most Inspirational Moment

Hike to the summit of Brda mountain with amazing views of the Julian Alps.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Excellent. Masa was really great and was not only our hiking guide but also our driver each day to the start of each walk. At each of the mountain huts she also organised our food orders.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Go for it !

Cycling vietnam

We cycled from Ho Chi Min to Hoian. It was an incredible adventure

Most Inspirational Moment

Completing the Hi Van Pass on a cycle.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Loc Pham was knowledgeable and patient. He was well organised and made us all feel looked after.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Non really, it was so well organised. If I did it again I would probably arrive the day before it started.

Amazing Amalfi

Another brilliant week away with Exodus with a 5 * leader! Plenty of walking and steps (literally!) around historical towns and places, good swimming and can see why such a popular holiday!

Most Inspirational Moment

Pompeii, Herculaneum and oath of the Gods

Thoughts on Group Leader

Roberta went above and beyond. She was professional, so knowledgeable, adapted the week according to weather etc to make it a perfect week. One of Exodus’s very best with a great sense of humour and love of her country

Advice for Potential Travellers

Nothing that’s not in the notes but when in Bomerano before dinner go and sit outside Hotel Gentile or a cafe by the square and have a drink and see the real Italy. Also there are laundrettes that do service washes so you go home with clean clothes!

A week in Albania

This was an amazing week with a well-balanced mix of beautiful hikes and cultural exploration. The landscape is absolutely breathtaking, with rugged mountains, remote valleys and crystal-clear rivers. The hiking trails take you through some of the most pristine nature I’ve ever seen, with stunning views around every corner. The itinerary included visits to traditional Albanian villages where we had the chance to interact with the locals, learn about their culture, and enjoy delicious local food. Our guide, Dorien, knew the region inside out and was always eager to share stories about the history and culture of Albania. From start to finish, the experience was nothing short of spectacular 🙂

Spectacular challenging trekking and amazing food!

This trip provides a fantastic combination of challenging remote trekking on the Salkantay section and over the Inca Chiriasca pass, the traditional Inca Trail with amazing site of Machu Picchu from the Sun Gate, plus many fascinating Inca sites which were brought to life by our exceptional and knowledgeable leader, Edwind. The food on the trek was superb – big shout out to our amazing chefs – plus meals out in Cusco were a revelation, with beautifully presented, tasty options.

Most Inspirational Moment

Reaching the top of the Inca Chiriasca pass in fantastic clear conditions. First sight of Machu Picchu from the Sun Gate - one of those places that you've seen so many pictures of and can't quite believe you are there for real! It was all the more rewarding after all the days of hard trekking to get there.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Edwind was amazing - funny, sociable, patient, knowledgeable, calm, organised, reassuring and encouraging. I have done several high altitude treks but felt that our heath was most closely monitored on this trip, with private/discrete discussions of any health issues, monitoring of altitude symptoms and daily blood oxygen level readings (which became quite competitive!). Edwind also brought all the Inca sites we visited to life with his amazing historic knowledge. He truly made the trip the best it could be and we couldn't have asked for a better leader and guide.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Definitely take walking poles - the steep steps on the Inca Trail part are something to behold! Lots of warm layers, as many have advised - yes it really does get very cold in the higher camps. Take enough pants for the trek - washing might not be easy in the cold. Earplugs - Peruvians seem to like to party and there are lots of barking dogs! Walk at your pace - you will be well looked after no matter how fast or slow.

Once in a lifetime experience

Awesome trip, a unique experience. Every aspect felt special from start to finish. Bata and his support team did everything possible to give us the best Mongolian experience. A great blend of cycling, culture and freshly cooked traditional food along the way.

Most Inspirational Moment

Cycling alongside and being in the presence of groups of wild horses, pristine lakes and glorious sunsets.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Bata was great. Friendly, knowledgable, hardworking and the best possible ambassador for his country.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Definitely on the moderate/challenging scale but always allowed to cycle at one’s own pace. Most definitely worth the effort required. Pack some warm clothes and a good sleeping bag as evenings were chilly once the sun went down.

Dream safari group tour

Amazing close wildlife experience including Big Five ++. Brilliant guide, well planned tour, nice lodges, long drives but very good driver. Life lasting memories!

Most Inspirational Moment

The meeting with local polers of mokoros bringing us through the Okavango Delta to our tent camp and the two days there. And night Safari in Hwange. And many more moments 😀

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our guide Onary was absolutely oustanding in planning, timing, attention to everyones need, knowledge on the 2 countries and on wildlife and even birds. Turned into a chef in the Okavango delta. Best meals ever, cooked over the fire. Could not imagine any better guide!! Also Sam, our driver, was so skilled at managing the bumpy roads, always kind and keeping calm and together with Onary contributing to the the feeling of family of the group!

Advice for Potential Travellers

Just lean back and enjoy every bit of these two amazing weeks. Remember warm clothes for mornings (including gloves) and smaller change for the local guides and markets.
