Southern Africa Safari: Kruger & Mozambique

The guide Petro was brilliant and the driver and safari guides were very knowlegeable. We saw a wide range of wildlife. Transport in the small bus made it very comfortable.

Most Inspirational Moment

Hluhluwe imfolozi Park

Thoughts on Group Leader

Petro was an excellent guide in every way. I cannot fault her. She was very much a part of the group and was extremely knowledgeable.

Machu Picchu & Galapagos

It was a great idea to combine a trip to Cusco/ Machu Picchu with one to the Galapagos- it feels like I’ve been on two distinct holidays. Both were outstanding and rich experiences. We saw an incredible amount in the time and were expertly guided by Holger in Peru and Richard in the Galapagos.

Most Inspirational Moment

So many. The Inca Trail trek was amazing, challenging enough but very enjoyable. There had been a mudslide and we had to rerouter to KM106 but all was well-managed. Circuit 3 is a great tour of Machu Picchu- possibly better than Circuit 2. I had high expectations of what I'd see in the Galapagos, but these were exceeded. Thank you!

Holger- warm, calm and patient; highly organised and extremely knowledgeable; humorous, emotionally intelligent and supportive. Holger put in a huge effort to ensure everyone had the best experience they could. Attention to detail- he checked everyone's oxygen levels to monitor how we acclimatised to the altitude. Ensured everyone had great photos of Machu Picchu- he knows the best spots/ techniques. He worked tirelessly on his nights off to take people to the best coffee shops. A wonderful Exodus guide. Richard-hugely knowledgeable about the Galapagos flora and fauna; appears relaxed but is highly organised behind the scenes; huge attention paid to safety while snorkelling- people of all confidence levels were well supported; with him, we travelled as welcomed guests. Any problems were quickly solved (eg- one of my rooms had a mechanical fault; one person needed a different mask.) Richard also took lots of high quality photos/ videos for us so that we could enjoy simply being with the wildlife, if we chose to. Both were wonderful guides!

Walking in Andalucia

I was met at Malaga Airport by your Exodus Rep and we were immediately taken to a comfortable transfer small bus which was very comfortable with an excellent driver

Most Inspirational Moment

The Tapas lunch on our first day of walking, and the trip to the Sierra del Grazalema, as well as the amazing meals at our Cortijo. However our Guide Peter was excellent and every day was a highlight with him leading.

Thoughts on Group Leader

He was very sociable and imparted on us a lot of local knowledge, including history, local customs, advice re what to do and see on our day off, was very aware of anyone who was slightly slower and accommodated the pace to help them, and basically a lovely man.

Amazing

Great week discovering mountains of Tuscany
Accommodation was great; going back in time, with comfort. Food outstanding.
A family atmosphere all around.
Great hikes, some more difficult, but it was all detailed in notes.
Loved the Medieval walled city of Lucca, on day off.

Most Inspirational Moment

The last day hike to Monte Prado Views all the way up, and all around

Thoughts on Group Leader

Sara was outstanding; a machine of a guide! Including everyone, encouraging all hikers to do their best. Her pride and knowledge of the area is obvious. Very involved with all meals. Great sense of humour. Would go back in a minute. A wonderfully kind human A gem for Exodus

Advice for Potential Travellers

Remember to read notes with hike elevation; as stated, bring layers for summit. Fell in love with the local “ Farro” grains, brought some back home

Cycle the Balkans

We had a super holiday. Rei met us at the airport, taxi to hotel. He was very nice and efficient throughout. We were a small and happy group of 7 and just perfect with Rei and Remi, our driver. The e-bikes were excellent for the terrain, set ready and charged for us every morning. The daily rides were perfect and adventurous, Level 5/6 was fine. Due to unforeseen road closures, Rei changed the route to care for us, finding break stops at the beginning of the season when some had just opened. Food was ordered in advance using local dishes as agreed by all in group at start of holiday, and paid at end of holiday. This worked well and saved a lot of changing of currency and long waits for meals. The hotels (rooms, staff, breakfasts, evening meals) were excellent, and the best in the towns we visited. Rei and Remi were with us for meals and we formed a close fun group. We cannot fault our whole holiday. Thank you

Most Inspirational Moment

The mountain passes were amazing. The e-bikes took us up without a problem. The landslide closed our route over the Durmitor mountains but Remi drove 100km around the mountain to our farmstead. Snow prevented us from cycling one day but it was fun to have a snowball fight! Swims in Lake Orchid were pleasant. I loves speaking with the staff and local people. Food was varied, healthy and freshly made.

Rei Proko was an excellent leader. He looked after us so well. I felt at ease with him from the beginning when we met at the airport. He had a sense of humour and was very efficient and helpful. He led us along busy town roads then, when safe to do so, let us go at our own pace meeting up later at say 10km / coffee shop. It suited our group. He looked after us totally. Rei was super.

Estonia to Finland Adventure

Really good itinerary to make the most of both cities (Tallinn and Helsinki) plus some time out in nature. Really good local guides who made everything very easy. Great bus travel – very comfortable and spacious.

Brilliantly tailored programmes to make the most of the trip. Great guides and all logistics taken care of so you don’t need to worry about anything.

Most Inspirational Moment

Tallinn old town. Walks in national parks, Suomelinna (sp?) Island tour.

Thoughts on Group Leader

He was excellent, diligent, knowledgeable and nothing too much trouble

Hike Spain’s Picos de Europa

The location was so close, only 1.5 hour flight, so no long haul. The small town where we stayed was unspoiled and on the hikes themselves we hardly saw anyone else. The scenery was dramatic and the hikes made the most of that. There were some tricky conditions because of previous heavy rains, and our guide needed to adapt the order that we did two of the walks in and he checked on the weather conditions during the hikes and did make a couple of changes (to get down to a lower altitude when rain threatened). His support of everyone in the group and his decision making was excellent. He was professional, friendly, well informed on the terrain and its history. Also, away from the hikes, he ensured the two non-gluten guests and the one vegetarian (me) were well catered for.

Most Inspirational Moment

Hard to say as there were so many. The stunning Cares Gorge, walking with the river far below and the peaks way above us. The amazing views from the Collado de Pandebano, after hiking up through the woods. The spring flowers every day. The treat of seeing Chamois on our final day on the route following the old mining track. Two of the hikes made use of tracks that had been built for the hydroelectric dam and previous mining works, and I loved that we, as tourists could now use those tracks, no longer needed for industry, to see such stunning scenery. Our guide, Alfonso.

Thoughts on Group Leader

He was an excellent leader on the hikes themselves and was always aware of the weather conditions and any changes that needed to be made. He was alert if someone needed encouragement or assistance. He carried the backpack of one of the party during a steep, slippery descent. He was also quick to resolve any issues with our accommodation and food (though I had no issues at all with those). He made the whole experience fun, whilst always being professional and inspiring confidence. His English was excellent.

Discover Morocco

Extremely well-organised, with an excellent guide, who liaised with a range of local guides and restaurants to provide very smooth transitions between locations. We didn’t know Morocco, and this trip provided variety between cities, smaller towns/villages, and more rural locations.

The trip allowed us to see a range of places in Morocco, with very experienced guides, and comfortable accommodation, with everything very well-planned. It was good to share experiences with our group of fellow-travellers.

Most Inspirational Moment

Many: the souks of Marrakech and Fes; the journey through the mountains; walking through the oases; staying in a riad; and of course, riding on a camel in the desert!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Hamid was a perfect leader. He was friendly, approachable, and made sure we were always safe. His knowledge about Morocco - its history, politics, religion and culture all helped to make this such a good trip. His local knowledge, including of the different languages spoken (Berber, and its variants, for example), and his patience answering our many questions were outstanding. We felt we were in very safe hands, and that nothing was too much trouble.

Essential Peru

Peru was a wonderful country. Our guide Giscard was exceptional. He went so far and beyond to ensure everyone on the trip enjoyed every minute of it and gained maximum benefit.

Most Inspirational Moment

Machu Pichu, the Condors and Lake Titicaca.

Thoughts on Group Leader

What can I say? He was so outstanding. He was incredibly well organised, obviously experienced and a wonderful communicator. He was so warm & open, our friend as well as our leader. Our trip went like clockwork - that only happens if the group leader can see potential pitfalls & plans to avoid them.

An Unforgettable Cultural Journey

The trip was a wonderful experience from start to finish. Every temple and shrine had its own atmosphere and charm, many set amongst peaceful gardens and wooded areas. Although the cherry blossom season was nearing its end, there were still plenty of blossoms and colourful flowers adding to the beauty of the scenery. Everything felt incredibly clean, efficient, and well organised — from the punctual trains to the welcoming hotels. The food was excellent throughout the trip, and the kindness and politeness of the people made the experience even more enjoyable.

Most Inspirational Moment

There were many!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Duke was an excellent leader — knowledgeable, thoughtful, well organised, and always helpful. He took time to understand what each of us wanted from the trip, from experiences and food to shopping and sightseeing. He was patient throughout and even helped with plans beyond the group tour. I really appreciated all the effort he put into making the trip so enjoyable.
