Beautiful country and people

A lovely trip to this beautiful and varied island that mixes culture, history and lots of nature. Now more than ever Sri Lanka needs income from sustainable tourism and we’d strongly recommend it as a laid back and fascinating destination for anyone.

Most Inspirational Moment

Climbing Sigiriya, cycling along the canal to a delightful lunch of many traditional dishes that you don't find in the hotel buffet, seeing elephants in the wild with their babies, walking Horton Plain and seeing the clouds drifting in below us at World's End, spending time at a farm.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Sujan was impeccably organised, great fun and worked hard to ensure the group gelled quickly. He has a great love of Sri Lanka and this came across in everything he did for the group.

Advice for Potential Travellers

It's easy to get cash from ATMs, the food was delicious and generally very good and varied for vegetarians. Bring plenty of light clothes it was up to 35C in March and a waterproof, because when it rains, it rains!

Cycling in Sri Lanka

What a fantastic trip. Our tour leader, Ruwan and the support crew were excellent, with great communication and no detail overlooked. Cycling is a great way to enjoy Sri Lanka and was made all the better with visits to local family-run businesses and homes to really get an insight into the lives of the local people. There were also many opportunities to see a variety of wildlife and birds. The two weeks seemed much longer because we packed so much in. All in all, a great holiday.

Most Inspirational Moment

Managing to cycle all the way up to the tea plantation on Day 6 and seeing wild elephants in Yala National Park.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Ruwan is an excellent leader with such incredible knowledge of Sri Lankan history and wildlife & birds.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Don’t be put off by the day cycling up to the tea plantation, as the support bus is there if needed or alternatively opt for an e-bike. Take some warm clothes for Nuwara Eliya as you'll need a fleece for the cycle down the following day and it can be a bit chilly in the evening.

Discover Istanbul

It was very good. A nice small group of likeminded people. Some wonderful museums and palaces to see. We stopped off at a mixture of good restaurants along the way and in the evenings. And there were some fun experiences at the Grand Bazaar and the spice market.

Most Inspirational Moment

Probably the Basilica Cistern, the harem of the Hagia Sophia (I think the harem was there). Melissa was particularly knowledgeable on all the historical facts about the harem and the 'black' and 'white' slaves/guards who looked after the Sultan and his family and the wider royal family. Also the different displays of amazing china, clothes and gold on the second day of going round museums was amazing.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Melissa was really good. She was smiley, upbeat, a good communicator and really knowledgeable about each sight that we went to and about the markets etc... She was also very good at talking about the history of each museum/palace in a way that we could take it in. She was also good at pointing out coffee shops or restaurants that we could go to in the evenings and have a good experience there. It all added up to making it a very good break.

Highlights of Portugal

Our guide, Carla Costa, was wonderful—such passion for the history and culture of Portugal! She helped bring the cities to life for us all! Wonderful hotels and restaurants, great food, good pace for us all.

Most Inspirational Moment

Our guide's knowledge and passion for the history of her country! Porto and the other small cities were great. The Douro River area and the Port Winery (and meal!) were great, but other restaurants were also wonderful.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Carla is extraordinary as a leader and host and ambassador for Portugal. Our group even wrote and performed a song for her!! Her knowledge and passion for all things Portuguese was imparted to us all during her talks and walks, and I cannot recommend her more highly. Her choices for dinner, luncheons and even midafternoon snacks were stellar!!

Highlights of Portugal

I learned a lot about Portugal’s history and enjoyed a number of sites. Our tour leader Carla Costa was great!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Super excellent. Charming, knowledgeable, attentive and responsive, beyond reproach on every single level.

Highlights of Portugal

Our Tour guide, Carla Costa is an exceptional guide, she had done so much research and her enthusiasm, and intellect were a joy to be a part of, along with her calm prescence and constantly sunny disposition, she left no stone unturned in her quest to give us every possible way to enjoy ourselves and answer every question raised.

The trips are extremely well put together, well thought through and work very well when conducted. The itineraries are varied and contain a fabulous mix of interesting and unusual things to see and do.

Most Inspirational Moment

The full days of combined city walking tour, with extra excursions such as the ferry on the river and the Port wine tasting. Whilst some of the group enjoyed the time to shop or rest, and I appreciate this time was necessary, I preferred to be busy.

Thoughts on Group Leader

I thought Carla was exceptional as a human being as well as a guide. She is one of the most delightful people I have ever had the pleasure to meet.

My holiday feedback

One of the most exciting and interesting holidays I have had out of my 200 plus overseas adventures. It was non stop for the full duration of the holiday partly because we visited 4 very different areas of Brazil substantial distances apart which required early mornings and long journeys.

Most Inspirational Moment

Spending the first evening at Club 1 in Rio just along the road from the hotel where the Bossa Nova music was invented for an evening of wonderful music, food and drinks.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Amazing! Fred was very knowledgeable about everywhere and everything in Brazil and found us the most amazing places to eat at night, which was very helpful with only 4 participants. He was very sociable, not just with us, but with local tour guides, drivers, restaurant staff etc. The best tour leader ever and I have nominated him for Tour Leader of the Year 2026.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Make sure you take walking shoes which can get wet and muddy, insect repellent spray and bite cream. Do everything offered!!!

Sunny Winter 2026

An awesome trip with beautiful scenery and plenty to do. If you’re into snow, ice and snowmobiling you’ll love it. Hurtigruten snowmobiling is well recommended, Charlotte and Sarah are awesome guides, extremely knowledgeable and professional. A total credit.

Most Inspirational Moment

Seeing snow as far as you can see and then being let loose on a snowmobile !

Thoughts on Group Leader

Garance was lovely, she looked after us well, even arranged a bonus free trip too. Totally recommended.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Wrap up well against the wind chill even when just walking up town. Most of the trips supplied exposure suits, gloves and snow boots.

Discover Istanbul

Great trip. Interesting, fantastic guide. Hotel really nice and in a great location.

Most Inspirational Moment

The basilica cisterns were great and the Dolmabache palace was very interesting. Also Melissa the guide who really knew her stuff and was very good at answering all our questions.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Melissa was great. Very helpful and knowledgeable. Giving us recommendations and directions for our free time.

Foothills of the Himalaya

So interesting on many levels. Pace good. Good size group. I really enjoyed all the things we saw on the travel but the journeys were pretty long!

Most Inspirational Moment

Seeing Indian life. Deepening my understanding of Indian culture and its religions. Hardiwar - seeing people bathing the Ganges etc Aarti Ceremony. Town of Shimila Golden Temple - both in the day and night

Thoughts on Group Leader

Sukrit was an amazing leader. Not sure how he managed to keep us all on track and together in one big group given the business of some of places we visited. We had amazing knowledge and interest in many things.. always keen to take questions. He was enthusiastic, professional and engaged well with all of the group as appropriate. You could see the amount of work the role undertook and he did amazingly well.
