Great trip! From our arrival in Bomerano, we were warmly greeted and our itinerary was set. The walks were marvelous, with clear expectations and careful attention to detail (breaks for coffee, gelato and limoncello were timely and much appreciated). The food and wine at the Due Torre were great, and we enjoyed our “night out” at a lovely restaurant in town (Le Corte Delghi Dei). We were lucky to have great weather for walking, but one really couldn’t ask for a better vacation.

Most Inspirational Moment

The first view of Positano on the Path of the Gods.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Severio was great-his connection to the community was palpable, and his advice on "the best" gelato and cappuccino was always right on target.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Do this trip; you won't regret it.

Cape Town and the Garden Route

We loved this holiday from start to finish. It was a great introduction to Africa with a range of scenery, landscapes and activities. We were glad we budgeted for the optional extras, kayaking, zip wire and shark cage diving. All amazing experiences.
The accommodation was good with some excellent breakfasts. Restaurant food was varied with ample portions. We are vegetarian and had no problem finding interesting meals.
Saw a great variety of birds and animals in and out of the Game Parks.

Most Inspirational Moment

Robben Island was well worth visiting and so was Langa township. Very thought provoking experiences. Loved walking round the top of Table mountain and walking along the coast at the Cape of Good Hope.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Justin is the perfect guide. Friendly, likeable and professional. Nothing was too much trouble for him. We learned such a lot from him and it's obvious he loves his country. His knowledge of plants animals and birds is amazing.

Advice for Potential Travellers

There's a lot of moving about so don't overpack. I kept mislaying things so keep stuff in labelled bags.

Pretty Puglia and magnificent Matera

A lovely gentle hiking trip in southern Italy. Walking through olive groves and along an aqueduct. Visiting the Unesco heritage town of Matera with its interesting history and hopefully positive future as a European city of culture. Also the stunningly pretty old town of Alberolbello with its trulli houses. Not to mention the delicious local food and friendly people. Marinella our leader was so enthusiastic and knowledgable about her home region. She also booked some great evening meals and a wine tasting that was also a cheese tasting, so much so that we didn’t need any dinner! The visit to the local farm and cheese factory was fun and the dinner that followed there was so big we had to cancel the pasta course!
Just one piece of advice would be to avoid the rooms in Matera near to reception as they can be quite noisy with fellow guests in reception and moving between reception and the lift.

Most Inspirational Moment

Seeing the houses and hearing the stories of the lives of the inhabitants of Matera Sassi Caveoso who were only moved out of their cave homes by the government in the early 1950s.

Cycling Drakensberg and Kruger

This is the trip for you if you’re looking for challenging cycling through soaring mountain scenery combined with wildlife spotting in the Kruger National Park. There’s also time for relaxing away from a city environment in comfortable accommodation in beautiful natural surroundings. The trip is a good mix of active cycling days on a variety of routes (mostly low traffic) but with hills! The game drives in Kruger give a good break before two quite challenging cycling days toward the end of the tour. All round a great trip for people who enjoy active outdoor holidays.

Most Inspirational Moment

Completing the challenging rides through the majestic scenery of the Drakensberg Range and, particularly, the ride along the spectacular Blyde Canyon. Spotting wildlife in the Kruger National Park and observing a rare African Wild Dog face off hyenas on a morning game drive was inspirational!

Thoughts on Group Leader

The group leader worked hard to ensure the group was looked after well. He has a good knowledge of local history and was sociable with the group. All the team of guides worked hard, were good-humoured and took care to ensure everyone had a good time, plenty to eat and drink and enjoyed the cycling and other activities.

Advice for Potential Travellers

There is plenty of uphill on many of the routes so a bit of cycle training is advised. However all the routes are do-able and there is a support vehicle following the group at all time. Great for travellers who want social media downtime as WiFi is limited in many places.

South Africa's Garden Route

The Garden Route is a diverse trip with so many highlights. It gives a great taster of what Africa has to offer. It’s wonderful to enjoy the wildlife in Addo and stay in the beautiful setting in the lemon orchards. Cape Town is fantastic with lots to do and the scenery is stunning. Table Mountain is not to be missed and Robben Island gives a great cultural contrast.

Most Inspirational Moment

Waking up everyday to beautiful experiences, but the "blanket" of cloud on table mountain is breathtaking!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Justin was so passionate about South Africa and positive everyday. He looked after everyone on the trip so well.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Try to stay an extra night or two in Cape Town if you can it's great and do not miss the botanical gardens.

Good tour with a good varied itinerary

I knew when I booked this tour that the food would be a problem as I can’t eat spicy food. I managed to go the whole trip with no problems, and no Imodium either! Also I have some mobility problems but again, I was prepared not to be able to take part in all the activities.

So food aside this was a full on tour, very enjoyable and varied, with good company.

Most Inspirational Moment

To be honest the whole trip was inspiring. To visit Sri Lanka before it gets too spoiled by mass tourism was amazing. There are already signs that tourism is becoming big business in Sri Lanka. Overall I think the contact with the local people and being able to converse in the same language was brilliant. They are such lovely, gentle people, following the way of life that is Buddhism. I feel privileged.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Sujan was a great ambassador for his country. He was a bit of a stickler for keeping to his time frame but to me, this is a sign of a good leader, keeping 16 people on a hectic schedule, with lots of smiles and good humour.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Get lots of sleep before you leave for your tour!! There are some early, early starts! Also, some of the activities are more arduous than they sound., possibly due to the heat and humidity. Climbing Lions Rock , I am told, was quite hard and not for anyone with vertigo (I didn't do this one). Another one I missed was the Horton Plains walk, which everyone enjoyed but all said it was hard going. At least they managed to get a distant sighting of a leopard. Don't take plug adaptors, they use the same plugs as us. Wifi can be patchy, usually OK in the lobby. The Yala safari would not be suitable for anyone with back problems and ladies, you may need a sports bra for this trip!!

We would like to thank Jill for her review, although we sincerely regret that some of the properties on this tour fell below her expectations. We use client and staff feedback to review each property and if any concerns are raised by clients throughout the year or identified by our staff who have also stayed at the properties, these will be addressed and dealt with accordingly. We have discussed Jill’s concerns about the Hotel Sapphire with the property’s management and improvements have been made. John Penge – Product Manager

Colours of Rajasthan

A fascinating trip, packed with the vibrant cultures of India. The tour was excellently planned and managed.

Most Inspirational Moment

It has to be The Taj Mahal in the morning light. Also the beautiful countryside between Udaipur and Jodphur.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Harish was the perfect group leader. Very well informed, intelligent and amusing. And very thoughtful too, ensuring everyone was feeling good and enjoying the trip.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Be aware that there is a lot of travelling on some days but it is well managed. If you want to see the many places in the intinary, it is worth the travelling.

Fascinating trip

A fast paced trip with a wide range of experiences and locations

Most Inspirational Moment

Cambodia was the highlight of the tour. Our guide there was excellent and even invited us to the blessing of her new home and to meet her family.

Thoughts on Group Leader

We had one for each country we visited. They were all very friendly, knowledgeable and interesting. Channa in Cambodia was particularly good, she was so proud of her country and so pleased we'd come to visit. Nothing was too much bother for her. Noung in Vietnam was great fun and Rapd in Thailand was good though she kept us moving quickly and those unable to keep up missed out on the information being given

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take plenty of mosquito repellent and your own toilet paper, outside loos Don't always have it.

Mixed quality but excellent service

We had an excellent guide in Antonino who took us on some excellent routes and had extensive knowledge of the area, fauna and history of the volcanoes and the evolution of the landscape
The hotels and included meals were disappointing and should have been of a higher quality

Most Inspirational Moment

Up Mount Etna seeing the lave flow

Thoughts on Group Leader

Very good as detailed above

Advice for Potential Travellers

Personal choice on hotels for us too basic

Reply from Exodus

We would like to thank David for his review, although we are very sorry that he was disappointed with the quality of the hotels and some of the included meals. Hotel choices in Sicily are limited as there is a lack of well located, good mid-range properties and high quality accommodation costs a premium. Whilst the hotels used by our groups have been specifically selected for their good standard of accommodation and service, we would like to apologise that his experience was not so positive. The feedback we receive from clients who have visited these properties during high season have indicated that, in general, they are good. We will continue to closely monitor the feedback we receive about the quality of the properties and restaurants in the low season and if they are found to not be reaching the standard we expect, we will consider reducing the overall cost of the trip or removing our low season departure dates. We realise this cannot alter David’s experience, but I hope it shows we have taken his feedback seriously. Marta Marinelli – Product Manager

Japan Ancient and Modern

I’d wanted to go to Japan for 20 years, having worked with Japanese students whose stories fired my enthusiasm. The tour more than met my expectations. It was well planned to ensure we experienced a wide variety of regions, travel, hotels, culture and food.

Most Inspirational Moment

One day started in the mountains where the snow lay deep and the snow monkeys frolicked in the hot water springs; it ended 48 floors up in an observation floor, stunned by the city of Tokyo's lights shining as far as the eye could see.

Thoughts on Group Leader

We were very lucky to have Tatsuro as our group leader. He was calm, efficient and determined we should have as good a time as possible, taking us to restaurants we would never have found in a million years. I will remember the pancake bar in Hiroshima for ever!
