Walking boots in the heel of Italy

A well led and easy paced walking holiday in surprisingly varied scenery. The wild flowers were stunning. Don’t expect to lose any weight as the picnics and various local food treats and tastings are irresistible.

Most Inspirational Moment

Meeting a sprightly ninety year old gathering wild asparagus.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Marinella is passionate about her region of Italy and her enthusiasm is infectious. She works very hard to accommodate the different interests and requirements of each group member and has a good- humoured, practical and flexible approach. Her suggestions for our free time were spot on. Ten out of ten.

Advice for Potential Travellers

I found walking boots very helpful as the ground is often stoney although there is little ascent on several of the walks. The steps (there are a lot) and streets in Matera would be lethal in the rain. Definitely visit Monopoli on your free day if you get the chance - It's a perfect half day trip from Alberobello. The whole group really enjoyed the optional visit to a dairy farm and very generous home-cooked meal The famous facade of the cathedral in Lecce is completely obscured by scaffolding.

Classic Kenya Safari

This trip exceeded my expectations. We were travelling at the end of the season, just as the long rains were due and I was a little anxious about “what” we would manage to see.We were looked after so well, and everyone did their utmost to ensure we had a perfect and memorable trip.

Most Inspirational Moment

The smiling faces and generous hearts of the people we met. The utter beauty of the landscape and unimaginable privilege of seeing wild animals in their natural habitat. Watching from the " observation platform" as torrential rain poured down , after our last game drive was over .

Peter and Davis were our guides/ drivers. They were awesome. They were friendly, fun kind and thoughtful. Both were a mine of information about anything and everything. They kept us safe, informed and entertained and worked tirelessly to ensure everyone had a perfect trip.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Loose, comfy clothing that you don't mind getting dusty/ dirty. The trip notes are are little unclear and don't tell you that you will want to consider tipping at both venues - the lodge staff and the camp staff, they only allow guidance for your drivers/ guides and one set of staff. We found our multi plug useful at the lodge as there was only one socket in the room.

Great holiday – lots of different experiences and magical moments

Most Inspirational Moment

Watching a moon rise over the Delta / getting up close with wild rhino/ tracking lions with the Pola / the Mokoru canoes - all of it really!!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Brilliant! Good fun, enthusiastic, very friendly and also very caring to ensure all his guests are well catered for.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Be prepared for a couple of days of very long journeys by road. It can't be helped as it has to be done to get to the next destination. Take a good book to read.

A great introduction to adventure travel

Morocco is a beautiful country, wonderful people, stunning landscape and healthy wholesome food. This trip gives you a chance to experience the amazing contrasts that the country has on offer, from the stark beauty of the Sahara, the beautiful mineral rich mountains of the High Atlas to the frenetic pace of Marrakesh. The trip to the 16th century Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, where they filmed Gladiator and Game of Thrones was fascinating and other small chances to sample local traditions like a Hamam and a tea ceremony were also welcome. This is a great introduction to adventure travel.

Most Inspirational Moment

There were so many. The night sky in the desert was clearer than you'll ever see it with no light pollution.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Hassan Hiss deserves high praise. Nothing was too much trouble for him. His local knowledge allowed us to experience things which would not be available to someone doing this tour on their own.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Be prepared for some long trips on the mini bus. Longest was about 5 and a half hours. There were plenty of coffee stops and photo stops to ease the tedium and also there is a marvellous landscape to enjoy en-route.

Wonderful trip to see tigers in the wild

Very well organised trip to three parks where chances of tiger sightings are high and we were delighted to have many good sightings

Most Inspirational Moment

When a tigress strolled out of the scrub and walked towards us followed after a few minutes by 2 of her 3 cubs. The train trip was interesting and exciting, and very organised by our leader. All the driving through the countryside and trying different snacks and buying in the markets was brilliant.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Hamel was very well organised, helpful and friendly and went out of his way to make our trip memorable in so many ways.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Travel as light as possible. Don't t expect the Taj to be peaceful and serene, it is very popular with tourists of all nationalities.

Probably one of the best cycling holiday in the world!

Two weeks of full on great cycling and when we were not cycling we were climbing rocks, learning how to cook, going on safari, walking round a tea factory, having a massage, learning about the spices of Sri Lanka, swimming in sea, watching whales, elephants, coloured birds and wandering around a temple or two. No time to spare and always something to see or do.

Most Inspirational Moment

The hill climb to Nuwara Eliya, the birds and wildlife we saw when cycling, the incredible scenery and climbing the Sigirya Rock. But I particularly like the way this trip supports local families and businesses who provided some of the tea stops and the back stories provided by Suresh on how they came to do this.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Suresh makes it his mission to ensure that everyone has a good time all the time. He had everything covered, making sure that your luggage gets to your room, that everyone gets the best room, the best view, the best bike, the best tea and the best curry - guaranteed!

Advice for Potential Travellers

Get yourself fit so you can enjoy the cycling. There are lots of dogs as mentioned in other reviews but we did become expert at spotting the ones likley to give chase from those happy to lie perilously close to the edge of the road. Unfortunately Sri Lanka does not come out well in dog welfare. There is a good variety of food and not all of it is curry. A breathing mask would have been a help to deal with the vehicle pollution in Kandy.

A wonderful experience of Northern India

This trip was a wonderful taster of all that Rajasthan had to offer. Travelling long distances, although tiring, meant that experiencing all of Rajasthan was possible. From the bustling of Delhi to the calm of Ranthambore, this trip will have something for everyone.

Most Inspirational Moment

I loved the Taj Mahal, which is a wonderful memorial to love and a beautiful sight. However, it was also wonderful to visit India during Holi, a bright and colourful festival.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Ronit was a wonderful tour leader who ensured that everyone was happy throughout the trip. He couldn't have done more for us throughout the trip.

Advice for Potential Travellers

The days are long on this trip and there is a lot of travelling. The trip notes are quite accurate, but don't underestimate how hard 5-6 hours on a coach may be for you. However, the view out of the window is always interesting in India.

Land of The Tigers delivered the goods

Good trip that delivered the goods eventually! We had one far off sighting in Pench, nothing at all in Kanha but my goodness did Bandhavgarh deliver with interest. One tiger drinking in a water hole, one tigress and 2 cubs walking out straight in front of our vehicle and one tigress drinking from a water hole and then turning and backing into the water to lie down and cool off.
The overnight train to Agra was an experience … and I’ll leave it at that!
The Taj Mahal and the Red Fort at Agra were worth seeing, but we were upset at the amount of rubbish in and around the Taj Mahal, it really could be better looked after.

Most Inspirational Moment

The Tigress and her cubs walking across the road in front of the jeep was exceptional but every Tiger sighting was inspirational.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Hemal was a good leader, and helped us in so many ways. Nothing was too much trouble for him and he worked hard to make sure we were all comfortable and happy in our surroundings. He even managed to supply a birthday cake for me at dinner on my birthday and had the others in the group each sign the back of one of a set of coasters as a present (a wonderful memory of our trip and a complete surprise)

Advice for Potential Travellers

All of the parks are very dusty, do take something to cover your nose and mouth while doing the game drives. Also Bandhavgarh in particular has a very red dust which stains so don't wear anything white or light coloured as the stain doesn't come out easily (have had to throw a few things away)

lovely trip

Very pleasant trip, walking was fine albeit rather more leisurely than I anticipated, food was excellent and the tour leader exceptional.

Most Inspirational Moment

Our tour leader, he was an expert in Greek History, the island of Evia, Athens - in fact pretty much everything.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Brilliant - see above comment, also, he visited the locally bakery twice a day and carried 12 pastries up the mountain every day for our first stop, also provided pastries for everyone after our evening meal.

Advice for Potential Travellers

The walking is not difficult.

Walking in Mallorca

March proved to be a lovely time to walk in the mountains of Mallorca. Having been on many guided walks this was up there with the best; the group dynamic was supportive and fun, the group leader managed the pacing of the walks to suit the range of walkers, and the variety of the Mallorcan landscape was magical.

Most Inspirational Moment

There were so many such moments. Such as the walk from Valdemossa to an amazing viewpoint where we took in the stunning panoramic views of the coast and the mountains. Almost everyday provided tremendous scope for memorable photographs of the colours, textures and shapes of the varied terrain.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Eduard was terrific. He was knowledgeable, attentive, personable, and well organized. His leadership was a major contributor to our overall rating of excellent. Eduard's regular accounts of the island's history and culture were informative and entertaining; so much so, that the idea of becoming a charcoal burner has its attractions!

Advice for Potential Travellers

The stay at Lluc Monastery provided a distinct contrast with the excellent time spent in Puerto Soller and the coastal walks. The collection of historic buildings at Lluc amidst tranquil mountains was a good base for the second part of the week. Travellers should be aware that at the monastery Wifi is available, at a price but is extremely unreliable. In addition, be aware that the use of a hairdryer and TV controller each require a 20 Euro deposit.
